Pelosi: Extending Unemployment Benefits Would Create ‘600,000 Jobs’ By Edwin Mora December 15, 2011 Subscribe to Edwin Mora's posts

(CNSNews.com) -- House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said that extending unemployment benefits would add “600,000 jobs to our economy.”

She also said that the money from unemployment benefits creates a “safety net” for the U.S. economy because it “injects demand into the economy -- creating jobs.”

“Christmas is 10 days away,” said Pelosi at a press briefing on Capitol Hill today. “The president and Democrats in Congress have been very clear. We're not going home without enacting a payroll tax cut for America's working families and extending unemployment insurance for millions of Americans.”

“The payroll tax cut that the president proposed would put $1,500 in the pockets of 160 million Americans,” she said. “The unemployment insurance extension is not only good for individuals. It has a macroeconomic impact. As macroeconomic advisers have stated, it would make a difference of 600,000 jobs to our economy.”

Pelosi did not name those “macroeconomic advisers.” She continued: “Again this is important because this is about the safety net not just for these individuals, but for our economic system that, in times of unemployment, we have a safety net and that is important.”

“Again, [not only] a safety net for individuals, but a safety net for the economy,” she said, “and again this money when received is immediately spent, it’s urgently needed, and injects demand into the economy, creating jobs.”

I have the greatest compassion for people out of work.

Having said that when does Unemployment become Welfare?

I know jobs are hard to find, but they can be found if you look.If the unemployment payments stop probably half will find jobs.

They may not pay what they ask, they may not provide a lot of benefits, the pay may not even match their unemployment checks, but they will find work.

Even Obama is pushing this line. That unemployment check is the quickest way of growing the economy and growing jobs, ROFL. Talk about stupid

Send us all an extra $1000 mo and it’ll create jobs also. The problem is how to pay for the handout?

Thank goodness the economy is doing so poorly and the unemployment rate is so high - because if fewer people were unemployed on unemployment, then people wouldn’t be able to find work.

Quick, let’s all break more windows. Then the economy will really recover and we’ll have full employment numbers again. /s

Clearly, the botox has begun seeping into Pelosi’s brain.

Using her logic, we should increase the amount of benefits by a factor of 10 and create 6,000,000 jobs. Then we’d have to import the dregs of Mexico to help fill them.

Wait a sec, we already do that.

Hey! If Pelosi is right, why don't we just send every American an unemployment check, whether than are employed or not. According to her logic, we would create millions of new jobs and have the biggest economic expansion ever!

It hasn’t worked in three years. In fact, the number of people filing for benefits every week has held at 400,000 - just 200,000 under the number of jobs she claim it will create. Man is she stupid.

My son’s father in law was on unemployment for nearly two years. He was a sprinkler installer so not high salary. He turned down a $10hr job about 6 mos ago and about 30 days ago had to start looking in earnest as u/e expiry date was looming. No problem..he got $15 hr job in about 2 weeks.
He enjoyed the free 2 years on the rest of us...and is a democrat.

That unemployment check is the quickest way of growing the economy and growing jobs,

If that were true why haven't all the prior unemployment checks that have been sent out over the last 2 years created 600,000 jobs?

“I think they’re so stupid, they actually believe it. And we all know the kneepad media would never question them.”

Understand something...
It no longer matters what the TRUTH is, just how the narrative is spun.

This is the same woman who, assisted by the media, convinced the sheeple that 4.2% Unemployment under Bush was “THE WORST ECONOMY SINCE THE GREAT DEPRESSION!!” in 2006.

Today, I had yet another example foisted on me showing just how prevalent Liberal Media Propaganda has become.

Someone I know to be an intelligent, educated person told me today, during a discussion on leaving Iraq:

1) “Bush killed 1.5 MILLION PEOPLE in Iraq!”
(Not true at all, not even close. Icasualties.Org)

2) The Iraq war cost TEN TRILLION DOLLARS!!!
(not true... Iraq cost LESS than Obama’s Porkulus)

After these two declarations, I asked my standard question to determine how fooled by media propaganda someone is:

“Who said, ‘I can see Russia from my house!”

The answer that came back, IMMEDIATELY, was “Why Sarah Palin, of course!”.

I stopped there...

Many here fail to realize just how deep and penetrating media propaganda has become. We, in this forum, know and understand the truth.

They vast majority of the sheeple, however, only know what they see as a headline on their Iphone, The radio headline they hear during the drive home from work during Rush Hour, the headline someone posts on Facebook, or what the 30 minute evening news deigns to cover.

Time to bring out the Pee Louse rhyme again:

THE PEE LOUSE

The Pee Louse pranced from the SanFranTree Town,
Happy, and you might even say gay,
With BowTocks to help her not scowl and frown,
And a gavel to pound on, all day!

“More Health care,” Pee Louse sighed, while shedding a tear,
And she started to pass a Big Bill,
“And I know not reading it is a little bit queer,”
“But once we pass it, we will!”

The Pee Louse twirled, and spun round and round,
When she said to the Unwashed Great Mobs,
"Taxes are the way to great prosperity, and,"
Unemployment creates lots of great jobs!"

The Pee Louse is crazy, and lost the Great House
But the DemmyCrats were Pee's good friend,
So they puffed and they preened, and elected Pee Louse
The Minority Speaker again!
