My wife's best friend lives with her daughter and the daughter's boyfriend. He can't find work and is sponging off of the daughter. They live within walking distance of a supermarket that is always advertising for workers but he said that doesn't pay enough to interest him. I'm sure that will continue as long as the daughter is stupid enough to keep supporting him.
So if the unemployment check is creating so many jobs then why hasn’t the person getting said check gotten one of them and instead needs an extension?

So if we create 600,000 jobs every time we have extended the benefit, we should have materially cut down the unemployment rate.
Perhaps we should shorten the time between extensions to month to month and then create 600,000 jobs every month while letting some folks remain on the public dole.
