"5) 20% wealth tax on all government officials and their immediate families every year the budget is not balanced."

I like this one, but would modify it a bit. Put them on straight commission.

A portion (say 30%?) of any budget surplus would be divided among the legislators that brought it about. If there is no surplus, they get nothing.

Address the pension issue, and maybe, just maybe we can talk, CA Assembly. Until then, pound sand.

Apparently the time for clicking your heels together and wishing it all away *is* here.

3) Annually auction off the airwaves spectrum (aka cell phone spectrum) for TV and radio. This corporate welfare loophole must be closed immediately.

Curious what you mean here.

Not sure what auctioning off cell phone spectrum for TV and Radio would accomplish. You can’t really swap them around.

And I assume you realize that increased bandwith cost would just be passed on to the consumer, US.

There is no such thing as a corporate tax. Individual taxpayers pay everything eventually.

The cuts are just beginning. California has no choice but to cut for the next few years.

I love the quote stating that at it’s worst, the budget deficit was $49 billion. Funny how the MSM hid that fact from us. I live in California, and I NEVER saw a reported budget shortfall over $23 billion or so. What a crock. The MSM lies, lies, lies and the ignorant masses of California suck on that teat for life.

California is completely screwed as is anybody who stays here who works and pays taxes.

The cuts are just beginning, this latest lie by the MSM not withstanding. The SF Comical is the worst of the lot of liberal fishwrap California has to offer. What a complete embarrassment of a newspaper.

If they raise taxes more wealthy will leave and few new ones will arrive.

And their liberals will flood to Arizona so they can destroy our state. Lord knows that toad Napolitano tried. It took this long to get the budget under control after she escaped the state to destroy the nation as a whole.

Thanks SmithL.
...state leaders have seen a steep drop in tax revenue that had them jostling to keep public services intact in schools, universities, prisons and aid to the poor, disabled and sick. General fund spending has dropped by $17 billion since 2007...
Here's my idea for a ballot proposal for California -- the governor, L.G., and all members of the state legislature would be executed without trial if they served during any year that the state gov't budget was in deficit.

Sorry; meant to type “ala” not “aka”.

Have those liberal institutions known as the “Main Stream Media” attempt to pass on their increased costs to their advertisers. This makes the MSM less competitive vis-a-vie the alternative media.
