There is another possibility which requires that we take off one tinfoil hat and put on another tinfoil hat. Recently I heard Michelle Bachmann agreeing to the need to store up provisions against a cataclysmic financial breakdown. In the course of that discussion she said words to the effect, "as worried as I am about the financial situation I am even more concerned about national security and I come to that fear as a result of my membership in the House Intelligence Committee."

As I asked in a previous post, what spooked her? Is there something afoot about which our elected representatives have been made privy which is so scared them that they would resort to this kind of end game extra constitutional legislation?

I say frankly that it is difficult for me to believe that John McCain, having endured what he endured in the Hanoi Hilton which brought him to the point of death from which he was only relieved by a kind of spiritual experience in which he dedicated himself to his country, would now set all of that to naught at the sunset of his career and his life.

I feel more comfortable wearing the tinfoil hat that says that there is something afoot rather than the tinfoil hat that says there is a giant conspiracy prompting all of these legislators to sellout the country.

I agree. I suspect a complete currency collapse in the 2012 - 2016 timeframe.

I think they know a lot more about the Iran/Israel situation, and fear that an IDF attack on Iranian nuke sites will lead to a regional missile exchange, and then all bets are off. That’s my guess.

The Israelies mean it when they say, “Never Again.” They will attack before Iran puts nuclear warheads atop missiles. And then the genie will be out of the bottle.

That is my dos centavos.

Thank you for the Bachmann quote; I had not seen that. It parallels the language from several in the Congress in 2008 when ‘disaster was averted’ - they said that unless Paulson’s liquidity injections were effected immediately, there would be riots, etc. That hyperbole aside, there is something afoot. And we are kept in the dark for the sake of the social order. Sheesh.

I agree...McCain is not deliberately destroying the US. He is being manipulated, I believe.

The national security concern I have points to the power transmission nodes in our electrical grid. A few very large power transformers could be taken out and reduce our republic to rolling brown-outs or black-outs for a year or two (if we were lucky).

In short, the populace is increasingly technologically vulnerable, socially fragmented, politically misinformed and devoid of any moral cohesion. The inner city youth in Philadelphia will not wait in line for an apple and a quart of milk.

Heavy weather ahead.

Shalom

I feel your pain with regards to which hat to put on, in fact I was on that very same fence a long long time ago, I jumped off right before it came crashing down. I do not believe for a second that these people in congress are ignorant or stupid, unfortunately that only leaves one option. They are ALL COMPLICIT in one way or another. It appears pretty obvious that we have a difference of opinion regarding Juan McLame, I also don’t believe in Unicorns either.

The problem, nathan, is that these are not mutually exclusive premises. It is not either/or, it is both.

If you recall Congress had a secret meeting in March that scared he’ll out of them just before the implosion in Oct. Of 2008. Have there been more secret meetings?

Agreed. My fear is that people of influence who are uninformed, partially educated, and motivated by feelings of sweetness and light are being swept up by the chewed-up leftist platitudes that pass for common sense in this era. They really do want to make the world a better place, and they are enthralled by the purity and goodness of their intentions.

I’ve seen this during my years in the print media, and now as a teacher in a high school - I’ve worked with fine people whom you would trust with your house while on vacation, yet their ideological slant reflects what they feel to be polite and enlightened. So it is that couples married monogamously for decades cheerfully support sex education and gay marriage that undermines their own chosen lifestyle, caring teachers casually shunt kids into ethnic and racial pigeonholes out of concern for education, and the sons of legal migrants argue on behalf of those who break immigration law.

That’s the horror. They mean well. They hide their hubris from themselves. Eventually, when the edifice falls apart, history tells me that confused people often seek the strong man. God help us.
