House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, said on Monday the House will defeat the Senate’s two-month extension of the payroll tax and will seek a conference committee to resolve differences between the Senate bill and the House’s one-year extension of the payroll tax cut.
“It’s time to stop the nonsense,” Boehner told a news conference. “Why do we have to go to the lowest common denominator?”
Boehner said Senate Democrats must come back to Washington and admit that their bill is dead and cannot be resurrected. Boehner also noted that President Obama “has said repeatedly” that Congress should not leave Washington until the payroll tax cut is extended, and Democrats “echoed exactly the same thing.”
Boehner said Senate Democrats should “put their vacations on hold.”
"It's time for us to do our work," he said.
Senior House GOP aides said the strategy they are now pursuing is to stay in Washington all this week until Senate Democrats relent and return to negotiate a compromise bill.
I don't know where this is going BUT it's pretty funny that Boehner is throwing Obama and Reid's words back at them. Rarely do we see this.
What payroll tax package? You mean the defund social security stunt?
The soap opera that is our sorry political system, continues as long as we, the voters keep our sorry politicians from being censured, fined, impeached or jailed for putting the interests of THEIR political party above the interests of the USA.
Will Democrat Senator “Bottleneck” Reid continue to put Political Party over Country? Will Senator “Son-of-a-Mitch” McConnell continue to cave-in to the Democrats and the MSM-controlled “Court of Public Opinion?”
The tension mounts as the 24/7 MSM continues to divert our attention from the main problem: the can cannot be kicked down the road anymore because the “road” ended when our total National Debt exceeded 15 Trillion dollars.

BTW Boehner, don’t trust Son-of-a-Mitch anymore: 89 votes FOR the Bottleneck bill is all the proof that you need.
I would WELCOME Boehner and Congress staying in session over Christmas, maybe those who are Christian taking a break to go to services as a group at St Johns church...the one obama uses for photo ops
It would be worth it to watch harry reid, pelousi, the manchild and his wookie implode over the mean selfish racists denying them a Christmas vacay
If they want to do it correctly (the tax cut) why not move it over to FWH Tax. Not that it makes any real difference but it should make a difference if you know what I mean.
It is refreshing that Boehner is putting a stop to the shameless dereliction of duty by our President and Senate.
They have not passed a budget in three years, then the were doing continuing resolutions for six months, and now they want to do a two month extension of some programs because they can't agree on details. What's next weekly extensions? Daily? Hourly?
This may blow up in Boehner's face, but he is doing the people's work. Next election we will have an opportunity decide what kind of leadership we want to have in Washington by either supporting the Boehner camp or the Reid camp.
Yeah! How the hell did Mitch McConnell become the minority leader anyhow? I know how but, still, how in the hell did it happen? Same with Boehner! Seniority my hind end! Bachmann should have been Speaker. I don’t know which GOP Senate weasel would have been better. The ones who have been there a while have been brainwashed by the establishment.
Good think’in. Let them explain how cutting back on one tax and not the others doesn’t effect the overall tax base.
Describing tax cuts as “defunding the government” is a standard leftist line.
Leadership can be a lonely role to play if nobody follows you. Hmmmmm - - -, unless you are a “leader” in Congress, or the White House. In those “leadership” positions the important thing is to keep things from happening that would lower the opinion of your political party in eyes of the ever-PC-judgemental, anti-business MSM.
BTW Congress, how has your style of “leadership” worked out for you in the polls of VOTERS? (Forget about polling the MSM, as they will always love the District of Corruption “Leaders” - - - - . How else could they fill their 24/7 babble quota?)

Point number one: the oil companies, oops, sorry, let me try again. The FILTHY RICH Oil companies, whose executives fly in Corporate Jets, etc., etc., want to build a crude oil pipeline from the oil sands of Canada to the refineries in Texas. Estimated created USA jobs are 100,000.
Point number two: the “Leadership” in the White House AND the US Congress have spoken many times in public, that they wanted to “create jobs,” and they want projects that are “shovel ready.”
(This looks like just what America needs at this very moment in THE GREAT RECESSION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
Point number 1.5: My bad, I forgot to mention that construction and use of the oil companies pipeline will NOT cost the USA one penny, sorry.
Point number 3: The oil pipeline “would decrease our dependence on foreign oil from hostile nations,” to again quote our sorry, and very fearful “leaders” in the District of Corruption, AND their sorry MSM.
Point number 4: See point number 2, and substitute accordingly - - - .
(Note to self: This isn’t working out, because when discussing Government, logical discussion is not possible. If fact, it becomes pointless.)
So here is MY main point: US Federal Government “Leadership” means to take the toys/ideas away from the other kids, and then beat them over the head with those same toys/ideas.
BTW, when an oil pipeline is installed underground, would that oil pipeline not qualify for being a project that involves digging? You know, a “shovel ready project?”
BTW, BTW, I KNOW that digging a “shovel ready” oil pipeline would create at least 100,000 USA jobs! Just think of all the Governmental Regulation paperwork that would have to be filed!

The payroll "tax cut" is eliminating part of your contribution to the supposed "SS lock box". Once again the leftists plan on robbing SS for political reasons. Why don't they just propose a 2% income tax cut? In the end it is the same thing, right?
