With a record 46 million Americans now receiving food stamps and rampant abuse resulting in what the Wall Street Journal calls a “food stamp crime wave,” Nation reporter Lizzie Ratner believes that “deep racism” is “at the heart of conservative food stamp critiques”:
The deep racism at the heart of conservative food stamp critiques offers at least one clue as to why the Obama administration has been unable or unwilling to champion SNAP [Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program] as a valuable recession antidote: as the nation’s first African-American president, Obama is vulnerable to racist innuendo, which his opponents are only too happy to exploit.
Furthermore, Ms. Ratner contends that “the food stamp program has remained surprisingly sensitive to people’s needs” and “is, in many ways, a model entitlement program.” Still, says Ms. Ratner, the food stamp program’s benefit levels are too “stingy,” and sensible anti-fraud efforts to reform the program, such as those proposed by Sen. Jeff Sessions, can only be the result of racism.

Utter horse plop. The county I live in is 94% white, 1% black, and 3% Mexican (the other 2% is probably Muslim).
I cannot recall in 6 years here seeing ONE black person on EBT (food stamps) at Walmart. There are all fat assed white heifers with bastard kids and a baby-daddy waiting outside in his new F-150 or similar. Why work when you can get paid for sitting on your ass and watching your stories....
I know a way to stop the racism. Stop welfare. Then it cant be applied by race.

Assuming a higher percentage of non-whites need food stamps to get by, isn't that the "soft bigotry of low expectations?"
Sure it does. What doesn't ever occur to them is that stirring up a race war is going to get a lot of people killed, and they could be some of them.

Well, most Arabs of the Muslim faith would be categorized by race under “white”. I’m guessing the last 2% is made up of the race known as “Asian”.
One of the reason why food prices have gone up is all the “free” money in the form of EBT being spent willy nilly by people that don’t really need the food. It is used as barter. So not only to taxpayers fund the EBT program we pay higher prices because we are in competition for the same food with the useless eaters.
Are you saying that without food stamps we’d have fewer people eating and so food prices would drop?
