WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The top Democratic lawmaker said on Monday that he would not start negotiating a one-year payroll tax cut extension until House Republicans passed the short-term tax cut that has already been approved by the Senate.

And yet, the media parrots the lie that the GOP is the “Party of No”!

Boehner needs to keep up the pressure on TV and keep demanding that the Democrat Senate ‘come back from vacation and do it’s job’, and keep quoting Obama. Keep asking how Reid/obama could sent his Democrat house on vacation with this critical deadline fast approaching. Play it up like Obama does....

This has been going on for three years. The Senate will only agree to temporary extensions, on their terms.

I say shut'er down until after the election. Only critical services will continue.

Federal pay has been frozen since Obama came to office.

That one is used up.

Now, look at it this way ~ cut federal pay.

Make you happy?

So, what's the government going to do with the money, and mind you we are talking about an Obama government, so what will they do?

You got three choices ~ (1) Pay for something meaningful, (2) Pay for something less meaningful, (3) Line the pockets of their cronies?

You don't need to answer ~ we all know the correct answer. So come up with something useful that maneuvers Obama and his running dog lackeys. Your permanent Civil Service folks have no way of doing that. Most of them work for Department of Defense figuring out ways to defend your home against Iranian missiles, or in the Post Office making sure you get your advertisements that make the economy run.

They certainly have nothing to do with pushing Obama around.

Try this one ~ call Boehner and tell him that you support the full implementation of the Ryan budget NO MATTER WHAT HAIRY REED and his idiots think they are up to. Ignore the Senate. Make the Democrats shut it all down unless they agree to go along with the budget.

“Federal pay has been frozen since Obama came to office.”

And, IIRC, promotions are at a by-far all time high.

They could be if federal employees were retiring at a normal rate BUT THEY AREN'T.

I think you are looking at data involving SES and Schedule C/Appointee ranks ~ which is a fraction of the federal workforce.

He should. But I doubt he will. (He's not exactly a quick learner...).

RE :"He should. But I doubt he will. (He's not exactly a quick learner...). "

I share your lack of confidence although the last clip (from yesterday's show) of him playing this up, you know crying the Obama tears for the 'middle class' while lambasting a lazy dysfunctional Senate for running off on vacation made me smile.

Well, maybe there’s some hope there, after all. (Check out the top headline on Drudge, btw).

It seems that the Democrats have their talking point in this. They are desperate to show the GOP as doing a tax increase so they can “read my lips” them.

Drudge's 'Get Back to Work Reid' headline links to this
Boehner demands Senate cancel its vacation(Washington Times)

While reducing FICA/SS tax without SS reform seems insane to me, I am glad that Boehner is feeding Obama and Reid some of their own crap.

It really gripes me to see Obama on TV calling this issue a middle class tax cut that the GOP is against. A lot of people believe this, when in actuality it’s the further destruction of social security. Notice he never mentions it’s for 2 months. Boehner needs to shout from the highest roof tops.

UH, no quite. Annual pay raises have been frozen but not “step” pay increases or COLA increases. Most Federal jobs award raises annually for each year of service by the employee (called “step” increases) + cost of living increases.

To freeze pay means just that - FREEZE pay!

There haven't been any COLA increases, and the time requirements vary by which step you are talking about.
