Top U.S. General: Military option on Iran 'executable if necessary'
In an interview with CNN, General Martin Dempsey says miscalculation may draw the country into a prolonged conflict, which would be 'a tragedy for the region and the world.'

The United States is capable of carrying out a military strike on Iran, according to U.S. Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Martin Dempsey.
In an interview with CNN, Dempsey stated that a military option would be "executable if necessary", but warned that the United States should not “miscalculate” its resolve, which may draw the country into a prolonged conflict, a possibility he believes would be “a tragedy for the region and the world.”
During the interview, Dempsey reiterated the United States’ long-standing position, stating that the Obama administration is “examining a range of options” on the possibility of a nuclear Iran.
Dempsey also addressed the recent interception of a U.S. drone in Iranian territory, candidly stating that the loss of the drone would not put an end to U.S. efforts to discover what is happening in Iran, adding that it would be “rather imprudent” of the government not to try to understand what an “adversary of the United States is doing.”

capable of destroying Iranian facilities? Yes. Capable of sustaining a protracted conflict? probably. Capable of benefitting from a prolonged cpnflict? no. Capable of punishing Iran? yes. capable of conquering Iran? no.
Punitive strikes are a loser. Iran has the capacity to shut off the Straits of Hormuz with little effort.

This is what I fear—that he’ll launch such an attack next fall and thereby co-opt all discussion of the economy. I have every faith that our capable military will succeed in whatever mission it is assigned. Kudos will rain down on Obama for his bold leadership and we’ll be stuck with him for another 4 years.
Bambi (and more importantly his handlers and puppeteers) will STOP at NOTHING to get reelected. 2012 will be the YEAR of WAG the DOG. Only a war with Iran will take the economy off the table and out of the MSM headlines and get the bamster reelected.
Obama is too big of a pussy to ignite Iran. Even if Iran finally nukes Israel, the Nobel Peace prize winner will sit on his hands and blame the Israel and the Republicans.

“prolonged conflict” results from a lack of resolve.
1. Tell Russia and China they have no credibility given their long and continued arming of Iran.
2. Tell the world, “Iran has backed terror in the region for decades, without Nuclear arms. We will not wait to see how they behave WITH Nuclear arms!”
I work with a former Iranian national who surprised me by saying that the Iranian people by and large love America and hate the Ayatollah and his puppet Achmydinnerjacket. They cannot rise up because of the brutality of the secret police and the fact that they have nothing like the 2A.
I hope he was telling the truth about the people. Arm them, support them and they may very well succeed where we cannot as an occupier.
