Iran to Family of American 'Spy': Keep Quiet
By LEE FERRAN
Dec. 20, 2011

The family of Amir Hekmati, the Arizona-born ex-Marine currently held in Iran accused of being a CIA spy, said today the Iranian government told them to "remain silent" about Hekmati's arrest should they want him released.

"The Iranian government detained Amir on Aug. 29, 2011 without any charges, and urged our family to remain silent with the promise of an eventual release," the family of the U.S.-raised veteran said in a statement. "Amir has never had any affiliation with the CIA, and these allegations are untrue. Amir's family hopes that this misunderstanding can be resolved peacefully with Iran, and that Amir can be reunited with his family and friends in the U.S. who miss him dearly and are praying for his safe return."

For months Hekmati's story stayed under wraps until Iranian television broadcast a "confession" by Hekmati Sunday in which the 28-year-old said he was sent by the CIA into Tehran to infiltrate the Iranian intelligence ministry.

“Amir’s family hopes that this misunderstanding can be resolved peacefully with Iran, and that Amir can be reunited with his family and friends in the U.S. who miss him dearly and are praying for his safe return.”

How about “paying” for his safe return instead. Kidnapping for ransom seems to be an industry in Iran.

If I was president, it would go something like this... I would have a good size backward counting digital clock made and put on the podium in the press room. I would have it set to 24 hours... I would walk up to the podium and make a statement, “ To the government of whoever is holding our citizens hostage, you have 24 hours to release our citizens”. I would then hit the timer on the clock to begin the countdown. Immediately military aircraft would begin skirting the outer markers of their airspace. Ships would move into the area. If after 24 hours our citizen was not released, then the aircraft would take out any and all military targets (including the nuke site). I would then reset the clock for 18 hours, go up to the podium and make the same statement, and hit the clock. At this time our aircraft would be in control of their airspace. If after 18 hours our citizen was not released, the next targets would be infrastructure, gas and oil refineries, electrical power plants, water pump stations, every thing that makes a country run... reset clock for 12 hours, and if after 12 hours, then we get personal... parliment buildings, homes of government officials, police and fire stations, any and all forms of government are blasted into the stone age... reset clock for 6 hours... then the invasion begins, and this time no friggin nation building... drive through and destroy everything, exiting into afghanistan...

Sometimes the solution to a complex problem is just so clear.

got another solution, president in 2016, the internet candidate for republican...start now, with no funds and conduct your campaign through the internet... visits to small groups, like boy scout troops, churches, and tea party gatherings... no debates (bread and circuses) just grass roots activism...volunteers to gather the signatures to be put on the primary ballot.... with the age of the internet, it CAN be done, with no interferece from the GOP elite... imagine the shock to the elites if this happens...just a happy thought

president in 2016

OK, so you gunna do it or me?

Actually, they would have too much dirt on me. When I was 10 I took some wood from a construction site to build a treehouse. I'm doomed.
