I am sure that you understand the difference. The Valerie Plame episode was designed and directed to do as much damage to a Republican presidency as possible.

Fast and Furious was designed and directed to do as much damage to the Constitution as possible.

Therefore, it is perfectly consistent for Progressives in the MSM to support both operations.
