Exactly 27 years to the day after Bernhard Goetz famous in New York lore as the Subway Vigilante shot four young men he thought were threatening him on a train, one of them killed himself by swallowing prescription pills in a low-rent Bronx motel, authorities said.
James Ramseur, 45, was found dead of an apparent overdose at 11:30 a.m. at the Paradise Hotel, at 2990 Boston Road, law-enforcement sources said last night.
He was in bed and fully clothed.
Ramseur had checked in on Tuesday and paid for two nights. He was supposed to check out yesterday morning.
When he failed to show up at the front desk, hotel staff went to his room and discovered his body.
In the toilet was the bottle that had contained the pills that apparently killed him.

Yawn.
Goetz’s quartet of 0bama voters just became a trio.
Well.... Bye
Sounds like he did check out.
It appears the only one of the four who hasn’t lead a life of crime was the one physically incapable of doing so.
They’ll probably try to charge Goetz with his murder.
2990 Boston Rd, not too far from my old neighborhood.
...you can check out any time you like, but you can never leave...
...or...perhaps the roach motel?
“four young men he **thought** were threatening him??” Come on, man...
One in five
No one here gets out alive, now

I wouldn’t doubt it. They awarded one of the muggers $43 million which Goetz I assume to this day still has to pay. Don’t know if this article mentions that as I can’t open it, but the guy who was paralyzed, Troy Canty, was awarded $43 million which Goetz refused to contest to show how out of control liberalism is in New York city. Also consider Goetz did jail time while these punks who threatened to aerate him with screwdrivers didn’t. So I assume if I try to rob a bank and the guard shoots me, I too can get mad paid and receive no jail time. Apparently that’s how justice works in NYC.
Will Holder try to reopen the case, and try Goetz for murder by claiming the suicide was “a result of being shot” all those years ago?
Too bad that that isn’t even necessarily sarcasm, given Holder’s record of “defending” his people.
You have exactly identified the core of the dishonesty in the article...
You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave...
one less welfare recipient.
Yes, they try to make the suicide out as a victim of Goetz, instead of what was likely despair from a life of bad decisions.
NY sucks for self defense. Most cities require a gun to be unloaded and secured with a trigger lock, even if you have a concealed carry permit. In other words, you'd be better off carrying a few pool balls to throw at anyone who threatened you. Definitley stacked on the side of the bad guys.
I disagree with the term “suicide”. The article simply states that he died from an overdose of pills and no suicide note was left. An overdose is listed as an “accidental death” and not necessarily a suicide (the intentional taking of one’s own life). I don’t see this any differently than when they find an addict, dead... with a heroin needle in his/her arm. The increased the dose or the dose was too strong and boom... they died.
I’ll have to see if I still have my “Bully for Bernie Goetz!” t-shirt.
