Gingrich would drop federal lawsuit challenging S.C. immigration law

One of Newt Gingrich’s first acts as president, if he is elected, will be to drop all of the Justice Department’s lawsuits against states -- including the federal government’s lawsuit challenging South Carolina’s new immigration law.

“It’s pretty outrageous when the federal government fails to do its job and then attacks the states for trying to fill the gap created by the federal government,” Gingrich said on the back porch of the Blue Marlin in the Vista after speaking to a crowd of about 300 people for about an hour.

Thursday, a federal judge threw out three sections of South Carolina’s new immigration law.

Let's face it, it boils down to another lesser of the evils - AGAIN.

Paul is a wack job although some of his ideas are good. Romney is a white clone of obama. Cain is a memory, Newt has no principles and will say whatever he thinks people want to hear to get Newt elected. I don't need to show the Pelosi love seat picture again do I? I used to work with the man 40 years ago, and he was hard core liberal back then, maybe he's changed, but I see very little difference between him and Romney except we KNOW Romney will be liberal. Perry is a hispanderer and Bachmann's campaign is pretty much DOA. There isn't a single candidate that I don't have to hold my nose for.

Agree.
Pretty good idea on Jan. 2 after South Carolina.
Will know for sure on Feb. 1 after Florida.

That video was outstanding. Thank you for posting it.

If we can get that man nominated, Obama doesn’t have a chance, none.

AND, if we can give him both houses, our country is going to turn around so fast we’re going to need to wear seat-belts.

GO GINGRICH GO..........

Newt doesn’t just have baggage.... he has JUNK IN THE TRUNK. Then he does have something in common with Obama...Michelle Obama that is.

Stay after class, Mr. Soetoro. There's still a lot you need to learn about American history and the constitution...

It seems to me that as a retired state Prosecutor, you would look at all of the known facts, consider the alternatives and go with the best case... that you can win.

This retired Detective Sergeant believes that you should reevaluate your case. ;>)

With the present lineup and state of our country, there is no room for a plea-bargain or a dismissal. This case has got to go all they way... and our best case is Gingrich.

Go Newt Go......

Doodlers . . . scribbling . . . Rembrandt.

Most excellent!

When nobody else thought it possible, Newt engineered and pulled off the end of 40+ years of House rat rule.

Here is his plan to put the courts in their Constitutional place.

” I used to work with the man 40 years ago, and he was hard core liberal back then...”

I’m genuinely interested in your statement.

Here’s Newt’s biography: In 1970, Gingrich joined the history department at West Georgia College as an assistant professor. In 1974 he moved to the geography department and was instrumental in establishing an interdisciplinary environmental studies program.

What work were you involved in - generally - that shows us that Newt was a hard core liberal?

The result would be to blow a hole in the US border system...

Wut?
...........
I’m pro newt but this one detail of his illegal alien plan would inadvertently wind up undoing a lot of the good he does just the way Reagan’s amnesty plan undid a lot of the good he did. .... Not because of the law itself that was passed. The law Reagan signed itself provided for amnesty AND border enforcement. However, in practice what we got was amnesty plus surrender of the border and a tidal wave of illegals because the Mexican saw the bill as surrender of the border and the internationals saw the bill as a free flow of workers on the way to a NAU. Which according to Vincente Fox is what bush junior wanted to do officially until 9/11/01. (and what he did unofficially thereafter.)

So the next grand bargain has to be written with an eye on how it would work in practice.

Newt’s current idea of local control of INS duties would in in practice — break up the USA—because it would give sovereign duties to local entities.

Given the right to do as they see fit some counties would kick all the illegals out and some counties would wave them all through. The end result would be worse than what came before.

I appreciate that and understand your point. I truly do. But for me, Newt is just two sides of the same coin. He will NOT improve America one iota. Further, he is not someone against who we can fight because he is in our Party. We can stymie Obama via filibuster, holding the House, etc. But Newt is not to be trusted. He flips on a dime and is very liberal on some issues. He will change with the wind. And there will be no way to fight it. America will NOT improve under Newt. At best, this is a sideways move from Obama.

It is time for us to stop being scared because they tell us we must be. It is time to demand a Conservative or we will abandon the GOP. And being a Prosecutor, I know all too well that sometimes you must lose a battle to win a war.

I just watched the video. I’m fine with Newt and can support him, not just hold my nose. I feel better now.

I’m behind Newt 100%. I’m also very disappointed he will not be on the Virginia ballot, my home state. He was going to win here easily in the primary.
