Now, I like Newt and I'd support him over Romney. But to compare being left off the ballot in VA because his own campaign didn't do enough to get the necessary signatures with 3000 Americans being killed one morning by the Empire of Japan...I mean, really, Newt? Really?

He think that the two events are in any way comparable? That's just an insult to veterans everywhere.

Newt's written a lot of military history book and fancies himself a historian. I can't believe he really thinks the two are in any way similar or related in any way whatsoever.

Reminds me of Pulp Fiction when Travolta and Samuel L Jackson are talking about foot massages and Jackson says "ain't the same ballpark, it ain't even the same ***** sport"

Sometimes Newt let his rehtorical flourishes get the best of him. Fortunately this is a facebook post and no one will probably pay attention. But if he said this during a debate or on tv somewhere and actually compared not making the ballot to Pearl Harbor?

What's next? Will he say he'll find another way to get on the ballot, like how MacArthur went behind enemy lines to land at Inchon? Will he compare the attack ads that have come his way to the Battle of the Bulge and the last ditch Wehrmacht offensive in the Ardennes? Will he compare the IA caucuses to the Wilderness campaign or Chamberlain at Little Round Top?

I hope Newt means it was a blunder by pro-American forces, and he’s going to make sure it’s the last such error so that freedom will achieve victory. Mostly though, I think he’s in his 10% moron phase. ~sigh~

Silly figure of speech. It was his Alamo! It was his Custer moment! It was his Pearl Harbor!

In other words, time to fight back a wrong.

It's an analogy, not a comparison.

Get literate. Then post.

Newt was aware of (or should have been aware of) the rules and regulations regarding primary election rules/laws.

This is not the first time Newt and his team have screwed up. He filed late for Missouri and almost missed out on Ohio. Getting 20,000 signatures in a state with more than 5 million voters hardly seems impossible.

If you want to be President Newt, pay more attention to the campaign and less to your high maintenance wife.

Please....

Go to your dictionary and look up the words, analogy, loosely, liberally, and try to put them together in a sentence and see what you come up with.

No do it again but this time use the terms perspective and vantage point.

Hyperbole: is the use of exaggeration as a rhetorical device or figure of speech. It may be used to evoke strong feelings or to create a strong impression, but is not meant to be taken literally.

If you can't post acurately, then don't post at all.
"By now you've likely heard that our effort to gain access to the primary ballot in Virginia was not successful. This was not due to a lack of effort by our volunteers, but the cumbersome process in Virginia.

We are exploring alternate methods to compete in Virginia - stay tuned.

Going forward, we will be as in-front of the process as possible and with the help of our grassroots volunteers we will make all other deadlines.

Newt and I have talked three or four times today and he stated that this is not catastrophic - we will continue to learn and grow. Remember that it was only a few months ago that pundits and the press declared us dead after the paid consultants left. They declared that the decision not to compete in the Ames Straw Poll would mean that Iowans would ignore us. Some will again state that this is fatal.

Newt and I agreed that the analogy is December 1941: We have experienced an unexpected set-back, but we will re-group and re-focus with increased determination, commitment and positive action. Throughout the next months there will be ups and downs; there will be successes and failures; there will be easy victories and difficult days - but in the end we will stand victorious.

To help achieve that outcome we each need to spend the next 24 hours enjoying our families and friends as much as possible. Enjoy their company. Be grateful for them. Gather strength from them. The promise of a better future for our family and friends is the reason we are committed to rebuilding the America we love.

May the spirit of the season fill each of you. Merry Christmas.

Michael Krull
National Campaign Director
First, Newt did not write this, his campaign director wrote it. Second, it is an "analogy," not a comparison.

I see you didn't post any direct quotes from Newt.

Your post is idiotic.

OK...Can’t trust VA with a write-in vote... So, why bother? Vote anti-establishment for Paul to sink Romney. Everyone will get it except Ron Paul. VA results will be meaningless. Then move on. My Opinion...

Newt is full of it on this one, and embarrassingly so.

First of all, over a month ago VA officials were warning in the press that the various campaigns, including Newt's, were in danger of mission ballot qualification if they didn't get into gear.

Nov. 15, 2011: Could GOP Presidential candidates fail to meet ballot requirements in Virginia?

There is no excuse for this. It is simply a failure of organization and leadership on Newt's part. And blaming it on "the system" or "the process" is excruciatingly lame.

See what happens when you criticize the current political love of the week.
It was the same with W (big assed mistake) and cain and now the newt.

It’s the same “with us or you are against us” BS.
