He think that the two events are in any way comparable? That's just an insult to veterans everywhere.
Newt's written a lot of military history book and fancies himself a historian. I can't believe he really thinks the two are in any way similar or related in any way whatsoever.
Reminds me of Pulp Fiction when Travolta and Samuel L Jackson are talking about foot massages and Jackson says "ain't the same ballpark, it ain't even the same ***** sport"
Sometimes Newt let his rehtorical flourishes get the best of him. Fortunately this is a facebook post and no one will probably pay attention. But if he said this during a debate or on tv somewhere and actually compared not making the ballot to Pearl Harbor?
What's next? Will he say he'll find another way to get on the ballot, like how MacArthur went behind enemy lines to land at Inchon? Will he compare the attack ads that have come his way to the Battle of the Bulge and the last ditch Wehrmacht offensive in the Ardennes? Will he compare the IA caucuses to the Wilderness campaign or Chamberlain at Little Round Top?
You’re babbling drivel. Nothing on TV tonight?
Well, he did say this was a War. If Pearl Harbor is the reference, then it sounds to me like he’s saying that he has screwed up Big Time.
Sometimes one needs to switch analogies though, and I don’t really think he goofed as bad as that. I didn’t take it that he meant this was a sneak attack. Because he turns around and says it is an unexpected set back, but they will continue to work and stay positive.
I'm referring to the alleged GOP supporters, not the candidates!
It's gonna be "Welcome back, Obama/Holder" at this rate.
From Miriam-Webster, Anology: resemblance in some particulars between things OTHERWISE UNLIKE
Newt DID get enough signatures, (20% over) at over 11,000 when they required 10,000. They later checked all the names and threw out 2,000, based on technical address errors of those signed on the petition. An example;....”John Doe, 110 1st st. anywhere, VA. They threw it out if it was listed as “John Doe, 110 First Street, anywhere VA.
That, and they disqualified Newt on issues they have repeatedly and previously let slide in past elections. It is also the first time they have ever disqualified a candidate for not having at least 400 signatures for each district. which again, they have overlooked in past elections.
So, be careful, don't shoot till you have all the facts.
