Two ways to look at it:
- That should effectively close the primary from Dhim voters like those who crossed over to help McLame get the nomination. That is a good thing.
- However, that would require me to support the Chameleon if he was the nominee. Can't do that. So, either I lie when taking the oath or I would have to sit that one out. (Not a VA voter, so it's not an issue, but, still...)

A loyalty oath to support whoever the eventual nominee is? Wtf? Any precedent for this in other GOP primaries?

I didn’t realize how messed up Virginia was.
They should first and foremost make the primary a closed primary.
This oath is a “pile” ... no enforcement. What a joke.

The GOP is seriously determined to lose the election to Obama, aren’t they?

I thought loyalty oaths to political animals went out in 1945, and was buried in nuremburg.

FTA: It amounts to an unenforceable honor pledge because no one can tell for whom a voter casts a ballot in the general election.
This should work, because a liberal wouldn't lie, now would they?
It is somewhat similar to a murderer being allowed to know what the prosecution is going to use against him in court. If he is willing to commit murder, he won't have any problem with making up a lie, and would be glad to have the extra time to do so.

Is this North Korea or Virginia??? Loyalty oaths; are they kidding???
What horse crap...

With only Paul and Floppy on the ballot, why vote at all? I feel sorry for you Va FReepers, ya’ll got cheated out of a legitimate primary this time.
To: markomalley
They’ve really taken the wind out of our sails here in Va. I wouldn’t vote for either of those 2 ying yangs if they were giving away hundred dollar bills.

Then Newt wouldn’t be able to vote in Virginia. He has already pledged he will not support the party if the nominee is Paul. Call this moot since Paul has zero chance of being the nominee but Gingrich has extablised the principle that there things more important than electing a Republican.

It’s almost like their governor was promised a certain something by a certain weird someone.

What are the reprecussions and how is this enforcable? I dont plan to support either candidate, but will probably vote for Paul in protest.

Interesting, but unenforceble.
But, the RPV is a private organization and they can exclude who ever they want, including Rick Perry.

Virginians don’t need unenforceable loyalty oaths; they need choices and candidates they can believe in. This joke must be fixed. Now.

Loyalty Oath? That sounds like something out a some third world dictatorship. if I lived in Virginia, I would tell the Republican party to stick their Loyalty Oath and any campaign contributions where the sun does not shine.
Oh wait, I did already and I don’t even live in Virginia.

What they need a law to prevent cross-over voting by Dimocrats.
THis is idiotic. There is no way to enforce and no way to determine if the signer is abdigin by it.
Virginia sounds like its primary system needs serious re-working.

That means anyone who wants to vote must sign a form at the polling place pledging to support the eventual Republican nominee for president. So, the expectation is that I would support the nominee, no matter who? Oh, hell no.
