Please help. Goldman Sachs has notorious alumni, such as Corzine in it's history. This level of government and corporate nepotism and cronyism is ridiculous. Out of curiosity I looked up Goldman in the regulatory agencies web sites, and found that Goldman Sachs has a fully owned partnership with a company in the nation of Mauritius. I've never heard of Mauritius, and other than the usual Soros ties to the nation, don't understand this connection. I guess I'm a little ignorant, but can somebody shed some light on this investment HUB of a nation I've never heard of?

Your broker should have a prospectus of any investment they offer. I am unsure of what you are seeking. Are you wanting to know about the country? GS stock? Any in-depth analysis of any offerings are available for a fee.
Mauritius is an island nation in the Indian Ocean.
Sounds like a haven for hiding one’s money.
Google more.
My question is why would a brokerage firm like Goldman Sachs have a fully owned subsidiary in the nation of Mauritius. The subsidiary is called benchmark Asset Company. What is the purpose of these fully owned subsidiaries? Page 16 on the link.
Why indeed. Sometimes these little TWCs (third world countries) do things different than what the US government laws and SEC think is legal. Take bribery for instance. It may be better to have a little legal arms length on some of these matters and a subsidiary registered elsewhere might just be the ticket to stay out of hot water. I'm just guessing on this because I haven't read the filing.
I understand GS having subsidiaries in other nations, but why would they be doing business under a different names(s) in nations like Mauritus?

i've never heard of this nation, unlike the Bahamas, Isle of Man, Switzerland etc. I'm also amazed to see how many fully owned subsidiaries Goldman has under totally different names.
Mauritius is a tax haven. No doubt GS uses it to shelter income and assets from taxes. Plus they may service clients who are looking for tax haven services. The industries there are fairly small scale..so it probably is some offshore activity.
Thanks. Oldexpat. Wouldn’t a company like Goldman be subject to taxes regardless?

According to this, Benchmark is Goldman's Non equity exchange traded fund linked to Gold?

Mauritius has another claim to fame. It used to be the homeland
of the dodo bird, before it became extinct.
Both prolific and shariah compliant. Mauritius is now over 20% muslim. If you have a blog about anything at all, mention Mauritius just once and if you have a hit counter, you will be majorly pinged by Mauritius.
