Rather early in the game to rule out a virus. Usually takes weeks for results. Whereas, radiation testing will make a determination within minutes of firing up a Geiger counter. If it's so bad that it's killing them, those seals should be glowing in the dark by now.

I agree. Plus, if it were radiation, there would be fishes and other fishing eating mammals and sharks being killed too.
My money is on the virus......

The first dead seals started showing up back in June/July. We are only hearing about it now because the locals demanded radiation testing. Otherwise our glorious leaders would have swept it under the rug. This is Alaska. One of the 57 US states.
