Some people? Conservatives, Independents and Reagan Democrats you mean...the people we need to elect an R POTUS. Paul is a Libertarian and are considered third party by reasonable people. Paul’s anti-semitism, racist overtones, isolationism and general goofiness are the reasons people are afraid of him. I won’t vote for him because of Drug Legalization in addition to the others. I see you conveniently left all those matters out.

Ron Paul wants to cut the size of government and reduce government spending. Obama wants to increase the size and scope of government and spend us into oblivion. Anyone who would support Obama over Paul is an anti-American statist.
Four years of Ron Paul’s isolationist foreign policy is not going to destroy the US but four more years of Obama certainly will.
Of course it’s all academic because Paul will not get the nomination but still, Paul would be infinitely better than Obama. No question about it.
Conservatives understand that RuPaul and nearly all of his followers ARE liberals.

My problem with Paul is that he seems to be anti Israel and perhaps even pro Islam. I see Islam as the primary enemy of western civilization and Israel as our forward line of defense. Sadly Paul's world view is 19th century and just does not work in a 21th century with nuclear tipped intercontinental ballistic missiles. But I would vote Paul before I'd vote Obama. The greatest thread to the USA is federal spending, monetary policy and on that Paul is very good.
