Sunset this evening (SF Bay Area) was exceptionally beautiful, with deep roses, reds and pinks.

"Red sky at night, a sailor's delight, Red sky at morning, a sailor's warning."

(Rosy dawn means bad weather. Rosy evening means -- what?)

I knew the red sky this evening meant a volcano was active somewhere not far away. I was right.

The EPA promptly ticketed Mother Earth and warned her not to do it again.

Yep, and Mother Earth better ease up on that tectonic plate movement if she wants to keep her license. Insurers consider that kind of behavior, you know.

Does anyone know what is the industrial emission equivalent of the average volcanic eruption?

It all depends on how you cook ‘em...and the sauce. :)

We had an unusually beautiful sunset tonight here on the Central Coast of CA. We see these when there are forest fires and smoke in the distance. Hummm.

It’s a busy day volcanically. There is a “new” island in the Red Sea as well.

I’m happy for your lovely sunset.

However, an ash plume at 15K feet in the Aleutians is not going to have any effect as far south as SF Bay.

You are - VERY - far away from the Cleveland volcano.
