They've been hosting this for a long time. Didn't they host the inaugural Rose Parade?
I would be great if they had a float with Michaela Pereira in a dunk tank
I don’t know if I can stand to watch the coverage.
The OWS crowd has a float - actually a bunch of plastic bags shaped like an octopus, with people walking under it.
I can’t be in the parade - not being a float, and not being covered in flowers. However, the police are going to keep the parade route closed to traffic, and allow these idiots to follow the parade.
Thanks to InBev the Anheuser-Busch Clydesdales will not be in this year’s parade. :-(
From what I’ve read, OWS plans to shut the Rose Parade down/
Should be interesting.
Pasadena is a rich and old city that usually doesn’t put up with too much b.s. like l.a. would.
The Rose Bowl and parade are the jewels for the city. A million folks line the parade route.
Will be interesting to see if the media covers these fools geting stined by parade watchers.
LMAO... good one. I guess that dart board in Stephanie’s dressing room will have to do.
In all fairness, Michaela was probably doing what management wanted her to do. It was one of the biggest screw-ups related to the history of Rose Parade live broadcasting though.
On the local news station, the president of the Rose Bowl Parade association said he did not beleive OWS would shut the parade down, because he was confident that OWS would respect the history of the event.
The man is delusional.
I’ll be watching Flyers vs Rangers, playing outdoors.
I believe the little ows kids will be after the parade is all done... hope all the people still around boo and turn their backs on the ows kiddies
Bummer. I have to work.
Absolutely!! And they don't look a day older today; amazing!!:)
Hehe. And flood the parade route?!!
I remember all the loonies marching after the last float even back in the 70’s and 80’s when I used to go.
AND, that was the one year out of a hundred that it rained on the parade, rained hard. I’ll never forget poor Stephanie being relegated to actually sit on the curb in the rain and be a minor commentator. I’d sure like to know who the evil genius was who made that decision.
Will they have to hire extra pooper scoopers to follow the occupiers like they do the horse troops?
Whoever it was, I’ll bet they’re producing in a place like Wasilla these days. ;^)
It was raining wasn’t it. Yeah, and they’re darned lucky Stephanie agreed to come back.
I watched that segment on KTLA this morning and thought, I sure wouldn’t trust the commie occupy scum to keep their “word.” They will not be content with just following the end of the parade. The statements I’ve seen from Pasadena PD have not been reassuring, but I also have heard there are 500 security video cameras along the route.... among other security measures.
OWS will just follow the parade with all the other Walking Rabble that parade behind. No TV coverage, just a human tide. The local Tea Party is watching and waiting, but there are so darned many police and white suiters on the T of R that I suspect little will come of OWS.
Dang,, you SoCal folks got some nice temps coming if the forecast holds..

“No TV coverage, just a human tide”
I hope you’re right...I just don’t think the network will be able to resist giving them coverage.
It has been quite nice the last few days.
We spend about the last five weeks with the night-time temperature down in the 40s, and the highs in the 60s. Now we’re in the 50s to upper 70s range.
Finally some relief. This has been a particularly tough winter.
;^) About all I can do is smile. We are fortunate.
You don’t have to wake up to living in a “Red” (traditional) State though, the people’s republic of California.
It’s such a great state, and the Left has nearly destroyed it. Really sad.
A bazillion years ago I was in HS band and we worked on a float for Knots Berry Farm (I don’t recall what linked us to them).
They issued us big buttons with “Why KNott?” with the “N” backwards.
After working all night with no sleep, that N started to look normal and all OTHER “N”s looked backwards for at least a day!
But we did get to see the parade from a pretty good vantage point and it was an interesting experience.
Looking foward to watchng the Rose Bowl Parade on tv Monday. :)=^..^=
I do not believe any planned OWS protests are going to last long, because Pasadena’s Police Dept. will be out in force as well the parade goers not going to put up with any OWS bs.
Amen to that my FRiend. It is heartbreaking. I have lived all my life in California and it is more naturally gorgeous to me than ever, which makes the political disintegration all the more painful and infuriating.
The annual Rose Parade is the pride of Pasadena, and a tradition of which all America can be proud. Look for one of the floats to display a large U.S. flag depicted in flowers high atop Mt. Rushmore!!
I look forward with excitement every year, and this year to JR Martinez as Grand Marshal, in addition to the military bands and mounted units.
Thanks La Enchiladita. That makes you La Enchilada Grande in my book.
As a kid I went with my family threee times to see the parade.
Then the next day went to the area the floats were parked.
WOW.
GOD sure makes beauty. Every exterior visable part has to be covered with natural non man made stuff.
Sooo,
Back to what’s important.
Them Red Sox going to right the ship in 2012 ???
As a kid the first time I was there to see it, Ike was grand marshall.
Seems like a hundred years ago not just 50
I love Southern California. Lived there for 26 years, now in Memphis and would trade in a heartbeat.
I too remember that day and turned to Mr C4E saying WTH, where is Stephanie E? I sure missed her that year in the main seat. First time I saw Stephanie was decades ago as the weather girl on GMA..early 70’s, she was sooo funny as the sticky weather symbols wouldn’t stick to the map and she just gave up and winged it.
Dang, you must have been a kid at the time. Knotts hasn’t been in the parade since...I don’t want to type it. I do remember fondly the founders Walter and Cordelia Knott riding on a float back in the day. I wonder if that was the one?
Early next morning we were there!.
One time, maybe '73, my friend and I climbed the light pole kitty corner from the grandstand bleachers at the turn onto Colorodo. Had a bird's eye view of the entire parade from the metal outriggher that the traffic light was suspended from.
LOL!!!!!
Pasadena police have been explicit in what will happen. Following the parade (and the police cars and the tow trucks and whatever support vehicles are needed), the public will be welcome to, as has always been the tradition, to follow the parade for the rest of the route.
Pasadena police will not guarantee position for any OWS protest, they will not reserve a space for them, they will not kick out others from there, and the occupotty protesters, as of about an hour and a half ago, numbered just six - whereas the bicycles and signs were already stationed at the 'end of parade staging area' just waiting for their chance to follow the parade six hours later.
The occupotty bozos have garnered a lot of press, and that's about it. You can assume, however, that the liberals in the media will take every effort to show us the occupotty protesters, and imply the mass of humanity behind them is part of their paltry little group.
Rollin’ down the Imperial Highway
With a big nasty redhead at my side
Santa Ana winds blowin’ hot from the north
And we as born to ride
Roll down the window put down the top
Crank up the Beach Boys baby
Don’t let the music stop
We’re gonna ride it till we just can’t ride it no more
From the South Bay to the Valley
From the West Side to the East Side
Everybody’s very happy
‘Cause the sun is shining all the time
Looks like another perfect day
I love L.A. (We love it)
I love L.A. (We love it)
Look at that mountain
Look at those trees
Look at that bum over there, man
He’s down on his knees
Look at these women
There ain’t nothin’ like ‘em nowhere
Century Boulevard (We love it)
Victory Boulevard (We love it)
Santa Monica Boulevard (We love it)
Sixth Street (We love it, we love it)
I love L.A.
I love L.A.
(We love it)
Looks like another perfect day!
And the reason why were still here in S. CAL..Refusing to give up the best to settle for less.
I’m locked in. My children and grandchildren are all here in Memphis. Enjoy for me.
Maria
Went back and read you #43post. I don’t guess that there was any snow on the San Bernadino mts. today? We had a cabin at Lake Arrowhead.
I will Maria...
BTW, I am restoring a vintage 1971 CT1B 175 Yamaha Enduro...Just rode it around...in a t-shirt, while watching the sun set...Warm breeze in the face....That was a kick! Had one just like it in 71. My wife made me get off it..lol
Take care.
