Gingrich: Politics Is a ‘Nasty, Vicious, Negative’ and Disgusting Business (
ABC ^ | 12/30/11 | J. Karl

Posted on 12/30/2011 2:21:25 PM PST by VinL

In an interview with ABC News, Newt Gingrich accused his Republican opponents of lying in their negative ads and offering “no hope they will be any good as president.”

“Politics has become a really nasty, vicious, negative business and I think it’s disgusting and I think it’s dishonest,” Gingrich told ABC News aboard his campaign bus in Iowa.

“And I think the people who are running the ads know they are dishonest and I think a person who will do that to try to get to be president offers you no hope that they will be any good as president,” he said.

According to the Campaign Media Analysis Group, 45 percent of all campaign ads in Iowa this month have included attacks on Gingrich...

“We’re gradually going to have to figure out how to essentially take apart the negative ads,” Gingrich, 68, said. “I mean I am committed to running a positive campaign and we have to find a way to communicate.”

“I think there’s a very real likelihood that I can be the nominee but it’s going to be a fight,” Gingrich said.

No matter what happens in Iowa – even if he comes in fifth – Gingrich says the campaign will carry on.

“I’m going to survive, period. You’re talking to somebody who in the national polls is tied for first or first. I think I’ll survive OK. I think I’ll survive,” Gingrich said. “The next phase will be to go to New Hampshire and then after that you’ll go to South Carolina and I think I will probably win South Carolina and I think by then we’ll have figured out how to deal with each of these negative ads in a way that disposes them and how to communicate actively who are opponents are.”

The Site Administrator is now for Newt, so many Freepers are falling in line.

If Newt is conservative, fine. I don’t trust him myself. All I want is a conservative. I wish Bachmann or Cain had been electable. I don’t want any RINO, Romney or otherwise.

The GOP establishment is going to hijack the election and shove another RINO down our primary throats.

Is Newt more conservative than Romney? Sure. Is Newt a conservative anymore? I doubt it. If he is, more power to him.

The key is, JimRob is settling for Newt now that it looks like we have to take the lesser of evils between him and Romney since no true conservative seems electable at this point.. It is clear JimRob hates Romney, so he is setting for Newt and lots of the forum butt kissers are falling in line.

I’m just a guest here. I’m in JimRob’s house and he can invite me in or not. It’s not my house. Being invited to the party, I’m not going to be silent about my disgust at having to choose between RINO Romney, and New World Order big business whore Gingrich.

For my part, I only care about one thing: Repeal Obamacare, with SCOTUS nominations being a distant 2nd. I’ll take whoever is the least damaging in that regard.

I will vote for anybody over Obama. Anybody. Gingrich. Romney. Ron Paul. I’ll vote for anybody over Obama. In the primary, I’ll vote my heart. When the GOP establishment hijacks the primary and shoves a RINO down my throat, then I’ll vote for whoever they put up over Obama.

Yes, the GOP sucks and we are merely going to hit the wall at a slower speed than the commie Dems will drive us, but I’ll take the lowest speed collision I can have.

I’ll hold my nose and vote for Gingrich or Romney or whoever wins the GOP nomination to get Obama off his demon throne. I hated holding my nose and voting for Jackass McCain, but if he had won, we wouldn’t be needing to overturn Obamacare now, and we would have Butch Kagan and Sorta-my-whore on the SCOTUS.

I'm with you, brother. The one shot to overturn Obamacare MUST happen BEFORE it is implemented, and it will only happen with a Republican in the WH.

That may not be a big deal to anyone else on this forum, but it's a big deal to me...and I will vote accordingly.

"....but I would be very hesitant to vote for a Newt/Palin ticket."

Why?? "If" the Dems pull the trick lately "run up the flagpole" of having la femme Clinton as Obama's running mate and putting Biden in as Sec. of State, having Palin on the ticket is an excellent response to that, and makes a lot of sense.

For a minute there I thought Newt was going to break out into this chorus...

“Not only are we going to New Hampshire... we’re going to South Carolina and Oklahoma and Arizona and North Dakota and New Mexico, and we’re going to California and Texas and New York! And we’re going to South Dakota and Oregon and Washington and Michigan. And then we’re going to Washington, D.C. to take back the White House, Yeeeeeaaaaaargh!”

Newt Gingrich is the best and most electable Republican candidate who’s run for President since Ronald Reagan. He is the only candidate in the race who has the communciation skills to go toe-to-toe with Obama rhetorically and to sell independent voters on a genuinely conservative agenda. He comes across to the public something like a grandfather figure or a favorite teacher.

As Speaker of the House, Newt ushered in a booming economy that brought with it millions of new jobs, passed balanced budgets and was able to work successfully with Democrats. The economy, the deficit and a lack of bipartisanship represent the three major complaints that people have with the government right now. Newt is the only candidate with a rock-solid record of success on all three of them.

Newt’s new Contract with America consists of proposals that are as well thought out, detailed and conservative as any other candidate’s in the race. We should remember that McCain’s national security credentials didn’t serve him well when the economy became the major issue in the 2008 campaign. In the event that the economy makes a noticeable recovery between now and the election (possibly spurred on by the Supreme Court overturning Obamacare), Newt has the depth and breadth of knowledge to mount a credible campaign centered around any and all issues of national importance.

Mitt Romney didn’t claim to be a conservative when he ran for office in Massachusetts and has no record of conservative accomplishments to speak of from his brief, failed one-term governorship. He has no achievements in his business career that set him apart from a million other run-of-the-mill big businessmen. Under Romney’s tenure as governor, Massachusetts ranked 47th in the nation in job creation, not much of a selling point for a guy whose sole claim to fame is that he supposedly can fix our economy.

Romney lost the Senate race to Ted Kennedy in 1994 by 17 points on the same day that Newt and many other Republicans swept into office and took control of the House from the Democrats for the first time in 40 years. The Democrat machine absolutely savaged Romney in that Senate race with ads detailing his checkered record at Bain Capital, consisting of layoffs, a huge government bailout and his profiting off of companies as he sent them into bankruptcy. Romney had to back off of the claim that he was a job creator at all, which left him with no record to run on.

Romney is as stiff and cold on camera as previous Presidential losers Michael Dukakis, Bob Dole, John Kerry and John McCain. He comes across to people as a kind of cautious, calculating salesman that you can’t get to know and certainly can’t trust. He is quite possibly the least electable candidate in the whole Republican primary field, aside from Ron Paul. He is definitely the least reliable conservative of the bunch.

I’m glad to see you get it. Repealing Obamacare is the ONLY priority, and you clearly understand the reason. There will be no pulling this teat out of the babes’s mouths once they are sucking on it. Obama did us a huge favor by putting off implementation until 2013. He didn’t do that for us but for his own re-election, but the effect is to make it so Obamacare can be overturned right up until they begin doling out free medical services. After that, there is no overturning it. If Obama is re-elected, then Obamacare becomes permanent.

I’m thrilled to see that you get it, whether or not we end up with an RINO asshole like Romney to make that happen. Now, Romney terrifies me as I think he is very likely to veto an overturning of Obamacare — thinking he can “fix” it. It still stands that the WORST choice we have is Obama himself.

Anybody Buy Obama. If that means Romney, so be it, as horrible as that choice is. He has been annointed by the GOP establishment and I don’t see anybody pulling off an upset, though I pray they do.

I’m so glad you get it.

The ONLY priority right now is Repeal Obamacare.

He didn't know this before ? Did he think that Obama was going to play nice in the general election? Wasn't this when Newt was going to counter the negative (Obama) ads with his debating skills? Think of this as a trial run.

Not living in Iowa I haven't seen the commercials everyone is talking about. What do they accuse him of anyway?

This primary reminds me of musical chairs.
