The Case for the Lady with the Titanium Spine (Michele Bachmann)
American Thinker ^ | 12/31/2011 | Chidke Okeem

Posted on 12/31/2011 7:32:59 AM PST by SeekAndFind

When Michele Bachmann announced her candidacy for the presidency of the United States, she skyrocketed to the top of the Republican pack as the conservative specially anointed to be the anti-Romney candidate. Since then, other candidates emerged, rose, fell, and dropped out. However, despite all these tumultuous political changes, Michele Bachmann has steadfastly remained as the true consistent conservative -- one who can intellectually take the fight to Obama and represent the right in both rhetoric and record.

It is important to note that Bachmann has a life story with which Americans can identify. Unlike the pampered patrician Mitt Romney, Michele Bachmann did not grow up in a household with excessive wealth. In her book Core of Conviction, Bachmann highlights her working-class upbringing and details how she learned frugality through experiencing financial hardship.

Having a candidate with a background that Americans can identify with is incredibly important, particularly at a time of serious economic malaise. A candidate like Romney who nonchalantly bets $10,000 over a line in a book is, frankly, the worst candidate to run in this political environment. Romney as the Republican nominee would be effortlessly presented as the personification of the "one percent" -- this is a narrative that cannot be successfully pulled off with Michele Bachmann.

Due to the fact that polls show that Obama is unpopular in both his agenda and leadership style, the GOP needs to nominate someone who is his diametric opposite. Frankly, no Republican candidate is more different to Obama than Michele Bachmann.

Is Michele Bachmann anathema to liberals and independents?

The idea that independent voters are most drawn by liberalism is glaringly ridiculous. If independent voters were liberals, they would simply register and vote Democratic. Independent voters are looking to be drawn by persuasion, argumentation, and charisma.

Bachmann and Palin’s ultimate career and therefore most consequential political decisions (revealing their true CONSERVATIVE souls) will be who to endorse THIS cycle.

NEWT GINGRICH

or

Willard Romney

I STRONGLY suggest they decide wisely. If either endorses the Massachusettes Liberal, their conservative career is toast, imho.

Romney has plenty of executive experience. If we held that up as the reason to vote for a person, he would win.

All BS. We need a proven conservative. Someone who has never used executive orders and crony deals.

Statewide office means nothing on a national scale. Clinton and Carter had statewide office, would you think they are worth your vote?

Rollins attacked Palin for not being a serious candidate. So far he was right about that. She wasn’t.

Get over it.

The extended debate schedule has acomplished exactly what its political establishment and media organizers intended.

It has knee-capped Tea Party candidates and other conservative leaning candidates.

What is amazing is some of people here on FR who just turn a blind eye on her, such as her new found support of deportation or her sudden outrange on Gardisil where she has never voiced any opinion before.

I agree that Bachmann is conservative voting record wise.

But she has eviscerated Newt while paying scant attention to much less conservative Romney so yes it does appear she is covering her bases.

and yes I too liked her once and thought the Palinista extremists who attacked her here once she took off early and saw her as a threat to our dear Sarah ...who never even announced btw...were nasty and vile folks.

One of whom in particular who blasted Bachmann early on in his/her usual spite is now all glowing over her right on this thread....shows how shallow some here are.

I did not appreciate her tear down of Gingrich. I think she has stumbled elsewhere too and just appears diminished in debates compared to the men. It takes a different sort of woman not to do that on stage next to men...I think Palin could have likely.

For the record...I too like Santorum and he may have a future down the road.

But his ACU voting record is an 86-88 and Newt's is a 94.

I'm sure as is the wont of many here that is irrelevant. Facts like polls and ratings are considered meaningless here unless they ape the poster's position.

This race is now Newt's brain versus Romney's money and good looks. The rest is just bullshite and candidates vying to get book deals and TV shows or slots in the next administration....and then there is Ron Paul...what a nut

It's Bachmann who is the fake.

The woman has done Mitt's dirty work since she threw her hat in to the ring. All she wants is to find a way to get out of Minnesota where she can't advance. Doing the bidding of the RINO elites to take out other conservatives was a small price to pay to move up.

Patsies such as yourself who do the bidding of zotted ex posters are what we would call "useful idiots".

Wrong. Santorum was going after Mitt on Romneycare full throttle and MB interrupted him w/that loud mouth. I was waiting for Santorum to take her on that ‘show’ of hers. He didn’t, probably because he trusted the voters saw for themselves what just happened. He didn’t go after one of his own and he had everything on his side - right in public view to do so.

However he did show what he proposed he was successful in getting it through vs. MB who has failed. MB’s only accomplishment is her rhetoric. And just in case anyone thought she wasn’t a serious candidate, she told them she was. LOL! Why would anyone think that? Because she isn’t - she’s there to protect Mitt - she’s certainly not there because she’s has a record of successes w/proven leadership qualities.

Has she brought forth that lady who she claimed said the shot caused mental retardation on her daughter after her vicious attack on Perry? Why did she do that? Perry came into the race as the worst threat to Mitt, not her. MB is a liar - face it. I’d never trust her - what a disappointment she turned out to be. Her political rise is more important to her than our country - that’s not patriotism but being a sap for Mitt to gain political favor on the inside track.

Yeah, go on and continue to bash Bachmann. Maybe we’ll get a RINO to replace her in Congress that will be in lock-step with Boehner and the Establishment Republicans.

When did she interrupt Santorum giving a response to RomneyCare? I’ve watched the debates and I don’t remember seeing anything of the sort. Where’s the link?

Happy New Year to you too, Sharkey. I am going to ignore your ignorant drivel because you can’t say Rollins was incorrect on this.

But, it is New Year, so I am going to lay it out for you.

Back in 2007-2008 around here, I was Freepmailing folks about how much I liked Palin. I voted for that SOB Juan, because of her.

When she quit her Governorship in 2009, I was heartbroken. I knew then that her cahances of going any higher were all but over. You can’t quit a high job because you were driven out by your opponents and still say you should be eligible for the top job. it won’t work in politics.

I even forgave her then until she showed up on FOX and started doing Reality TV. She lost me totally. I figured that if she resigned, she was going to have to prove herself in other ways, Reality TV where she makes ads saying that she doesn’t care about sitting in a stuffy office but would rather be out there wild and free, was a killer.

In reality, myself, I agree. I would rather do what she is doing than deal with a rotten declining country, sure sounds better.

Palin is a good cheerleader and spokesperson. She is effective because she can say what she wants. If she were running she would have been demolished by now.

Hate her, no, I don’t. Do I think she is politically viable now? No I don’t. Could she be in the future? maybe.

Whoa, she lives in your head rent free.

I thought this thread was about Michele Bachmann and her attempt to make herself relevant.

Didn't work......

She has such a titanium spine that she hasn't laid a glove on Mitt Romney during the entire primary cycle.

Bachmann has been a titanium disappointment.

my vote will be for her or Santorum. I doubt either will beat Romney here

Same here but by the time Illinois primary rolls around, it will have already been decided. Illinois will almost certainly go for Romney in its wide open primary and all the rinos in the GOP ruling elite.

I live about 100 miles from the Iowa border, mmmmm wonder how hard it would be to slip across and vote in their caucus?

Well anyway, I gave you an honest assessment of Palin. I really don’t think about her too much at all. Why? Because she is not a candidate. I think about people who have the guts to make policy that will affect my life in a positive way.

A person cannot do that appearing on FOX News every once in a blue moon.

Sorry Shark boy, you just look silly when hit with reality.

If you don't think of her, why do you constantly bring her up?

Once again, this thread is about the nonsensical campaign of Michele Bachmann (brought to us by Mitt Romney).

If you are interested you will find it. Perhaps you were too bias to notice the antics when it happened. I had no dog in the race - I was able to see things since I wasn’t routing for anyone at the time. Let her stay in Congress if her constituents want her after her display of protecting mitt. I’m not bashing her - I’m not against her, I am against Mitt. Telling the truth on what was televised doesn’t hurt her - she hurt herself and America, IMO. If anyone gives mitt an inch is not anyone I see as a conservative no matter what comes out of the ‘I am’ mouth. Convenient conservatism is more her speed.

I only brouhgt her up because you posted to me. Are you ignorant or what?

I know where you come from. Where you come from is a losing battle. That has already been proved.

Is Palin running to save the US? Or is she not running? What is truth?

Are you even able to face any reality at all?
