We won't eat halal meat, say MPs and peers who reject demands to serve it at Westminster

The Palace of Westminster has rejected demands to serve halal meat in its restaurants.

Muslim MPs and peers have been told they cannot have meat slaughtered in line with Islamic tradition because the method – slitting an animal’s throat without first stunning it – is offensive to many of their non-Muslim colleagues.

The stance has infuriated some parliamentarians who have eaten meat in the Palace’s 23 restaurants and cafes, having been assured that it was halal.

Lord Ahmed of Rotherham said: ‘I did feel misled. I think a halal option should be made available.’

In 2010, the Mail on Sunday revealed schools, hospitals and restaurants were serving halal meat to unwitting customers.

Waitrose, Marks & Spencer, Sainsbury’s, Tesco, Somerfield and the Co-op all said they stocked meat slaughtered according to Islamic tradition without letting customers know.

Fast-food chains including Domino’s Pizza, Pizza Hut, KFC, ­Nando’s and Subway are also using halal meat without ­telling customers, it was revealed.

Follow the money. 

Serving halal meat means more business and more profits for Muslims who are the halal butchers and halal meat distributors. The old line British meat distributors and their employees go into decline and people lose jobs to the muzzie throat slitters. This while Muzzies laugh at how easy it was to con the infidels into eating Sharia compliant meat

Here is the big deal, I DON'T WANT ISLAM LITERALLY CRAMMED DOWN MY THROAT! What will you say in 25 years? What's the big deal, it's only a burka, it's no different then any other garment, only it covers your whole head, it will provide more warmth on cold days, or it's only a prayer rug, what's the big deal, just get down on it and pray to Allah, you were going tp pray anyway, just do it on the carpet, what's the big deal?

People would be amazed if only they knew how much halal meat was being served in restaurants and sold in super markets.

Why would we not be hearing about it via massive PETA/ASPCA protests and other "animals are people too" sources. I would wager that there is much more meat that is claimaed to be halal than is actually being sold. Another non-issue as it tastes the same and we generally don't hang around slaughter houses which would be a turn off even with the "humane" methods of getting us out meat to the table. Non-hunters, who have never had to dress a carcass are more likely to react negatively - even the best hunters will wound an anmial, have to track it down, then kill it from up close - the animal suffers and fears more than any halal-killed animal. We are too removed from the reality of our own existence - the continuing demascualtion of Men will kill us all.

I like to buy grass-fed beef directly from local farms here in CT. A couple of them advertize that they produce their beef in accordance with halal restrictions.

I won't buy from them.
