The Palace of Westminster has rejected demands to serve halal meat in its restaurants.
Muslim MPs and peers have been told they cannot have meat slaughtered in line with Islamic tradition because the method – slitting an animal’s throat without first stunning it – is offensive to many of their non-Muslim colleagues.
The stance has infuriated some parliamentarians who have eaten meat in the Palace’s 23 restaurants and cafes, having been assured that it was halal.
Lord Ahmed of Rotherham said: ‘I did feel misled. I think a halal option should be made available.’
In 2010, the Mail on Sunday revealed schools, hospitals and restaurants were serving halal meat to unwitting customers.
Waitrose, Marks & Spencer, Sainsbury’s, Tesco, Somerfield and the Co-op all said they stocked meat slaughtered according to Islamic tradition without letting customers know.
Fast-food chains including Domino’s Pizza, Pizza Hut, KFC, Nando’s and Subway are also using halal meat without telling customers, it was revealed.

The point is that halal is appeasing the muslimes. It is one more step to doing things their way. That is the problem and that is the point.

For the life of me, I cannot understand how any Christian can bring himself to eating meat sacrificed to the false moon god.

That is the real point, but many are also touting the cruely side of things - my post was addressed to them. I also happen to believe that many "halal" suppliers are fibbing and using more conventional slaughter methods - joke's on the muzzies.
Just for the record; do you oppose the preparation of Kosher products? I understand that 99% of the world's terrorists are Muslims, but there are still a few with the mistaken perception that they are practicing a religion with a real God instead of the god they pray to - not everyone is our enemy. How about enough halal to feed them?
Whats the big deal? The Christian butcher goes out of business while the muslim butcher makes lots of money.
I for one prefer to eat food which has not been dedicated to evil.
Halal means more than cutting the animals throat.

The Jews aren’t trying to force everyone into becoming Jewish so I’m not concerned with how they prepare their chow.

Just before the animal is sacrificed to the moon god, the butcher must utter, "Bismillah al Raḥmān Al Raḥīm" -- otherwise, it is not halal:

It’s not just about the way the animal is killed, it’s that the food is blessed in the name of Allah.
If anyone says grace over their food, (yes you, Christians) than you seem to take blessing food seriously. I know I do. And I don’t want to eat something that was killed in the name of Allah.
