We won't eat halal meat, say MPs and peers who reject demands to serve it at Westminster
Mail on Sunday ^ | 1/1/2012 | CHRIS HASTINGS

The Palace of Westminster has rejected demands to serve halal meat in its restaurants.

Muslim MPs and peers have been told they cannot have meat slaughtered in line with Islamic tradition because the method – slitting an animal’s throat without first stunning it – is offensive to many of their non-Muslim colleagues.

The stance has infuriated some parliamentarians who have eaten meat in the Palace’s 23 restaurants and cafes, having been assured that it was halal.

Lord Ahmed of Rotherham said: ‘I did feel misled. I think a halal option should be made available.’

In 2010, the Mail on Sunday revealed schools, hospitals and restaurants were serving halal meat to unwitting customers.

Waitrose, Marks & Spencer, Sainsbury’s, Tesco, Somerfield and the Co-op all said they stocked meat slaughtered according to Islamic tradition without letting customers know.

Fast-food chains including Domino’s Pizza, Pizza Hut, KFC, Nando’s and Subway are also using halal meat without telling customers, it was revealed.

I got your point.

But I think you missed my point in that it’s not going to stop with Halal. If given enough time, it will be child brides, Sharia law, and Dhimmitude tax, and slavery.

re: Why would we not be hearing about it via massive PETA/ASPCA protests and other “animals are people too” sources.

I was wondering about that too. PETA even made a big deal about Obama swatting a fly not too long ago. But they seem silent on the brutal methods Muslims use to obtain their meat.

You are free to think of the Franks as having moved INTO FRANCE, but the place is named after them ~ France is where the Franks lived.

When they were part of an undifferentiated mass of barbarians they lived where they could get away with it. When they were first noticed by anybody they were already living on Roman land East of the Rhine. Parts of that territory are still part of France in terms of culture and language (although not part of the modern French state).

We also have to differentiate between the Franks as a ruling elite (maybe a few thousand people) and the Franks as part of a culture where they are actors ~ not just tax collectors.

Whatever languages the Franks originally used just about all of them ended up speaking one or more languages called GALLO ~ which is your basic Ladino (not Latin) with an extended vocabulary from a wide variety of sources.

The DNA studies demonstrate that for the most part the Gauls and the Franks are IDENTICAL, with the Gauls being indistinguishable from the Gauls in Galiza (Galicia) and the Basques (who had a far larger territory at the time). These same people are not readily differentiated from all the tribes in Britain, or Souvrn' Scandinavia, or even to the East beyond Moscow.

The studies have determined there's a sort of division between Northern and Southern Europe genetically, but little between Eastern and Western Europe.

Most history is known to have occurred at the top of very steep social hierarchies and involved few people. The people at the bottom of the heap tolerated these crazed Lords and Nobles wandering about hacking at each other with spears and swords ~ and then one day somebody invented the firearm and it was just a matter of time and EVERYBODY got into the practice of arms and the Noble Ranks were degraded.

During the 60s, I had a friend in high school that worked part time butchering pigs. They would hang them upside down and use a spear-like blade to cut into the throats to sver the jugulars. He said they didn't start acting up until the blood smell caused panic. They killed them that way to maximize blood drainage. IOW, we used to kill a lot of our meat per "halal" type standards and there was a reason for it - superior meat quality. It wouldn't be perceived as catering to muzzies except for the "humane" standards imposed by groups like PETA. While we need to squash the trend to allow sharia and other muzzie-friendly philosophies into our society, meat preparation is really low on my priorities of important issues.

Thanks for the link. I am really disappointed that Costco is selling Halal meat if all of it is halal.

There needs to be a truth in labeling law. The Bible says we are not to eat meat that has been sacrificed to idols. A fish symbol on the label would indicate it was halal-free.

IT started with child brides, law little different from Sharia law, and special taxes placed on people not in favor with the top dogs. And that's all the way back to the days of the Patriarchs, and even beyond.

You imagine that the Moslems have something different, but what they have used to be NORMAL everywhere.

It's not here, not today, and won't be. The early Moslems had little difficulty converting others because all they had to do was a basic name substitution and that was that. All the rest of it was essentially the same as in the cultures they encountered.

BTW, Shariah law was solidified about 1000 AD when the scholarly schools decided it was time to close the book on the law. They figured they'd had just about as many laws created as people could stand ~

We share that belief when it comes to the Federal Income Tax Law. Time to close the book and burn it.

"Sacrificed to Idols" means literally cooked on a grill in a temple devoted to a specific pagan god.

If the Apostle had meant "mumbling over dinner" I think he'd said that. Or, you can imagine the Apostle didn't know about Greek and Roman practices.

BTW, food cooked on a grill at The Jewish Temple was still OK, so in case someone gets the idea God is against grills, think again.

If you want less of militant Islam it is counterproductive to pander to muslim arrogance.

The more you accomodate militant muslims, the more they demand.

Which is why I want everyone here to know I DO NOT BELIEVE IN IDOLS so go ahead and eat. Frankly, you can cook dinner over smoking buffalo chips on the prairie or cow dung in Calcutta and it won’t bother me a bit provided it’s covered to keep out the ashes, and gets hot enough to kill the bacteria and viruses.

You know what? I am beginning to understand these little Bible verses:

1.Acts 15:29
That ye abstain from meats offered to idols, and from blood, and from things strangled, and from fornication: from which if ye keep yourselves, ye shall do well. Fare ye well.

2.1 Corinthians 8:10
For if any man see thee which hast knowledge sit at meat in the idol’s temple, shall not the conscience of him which is weak be emboldened to eat those things which are offered to idols;

Don’t Kosher products get labeld as such? Are the Jews trying to put one over on us here?

I don't believe that for even a minute.
1 - Halal meat has to be more expensive that the usual variety because it is a low volume specialty. No business is going to voluntarily cost themselves more money.
2 - Compared to modern slaughter houses, halal slaughtering can't supply the volume of meat needed to keep these listed restaurants in product.
3 - This story is from England and the places named are in England. I don't think you have any need to boycott your local Domino's or KFC.

Haven't you figured it out yet? The progressive liberati don't impose their liberal BS on Muslims because they are terrified of even offending them in any way. Liberals are big cowards, that's why PETA dare not pester Muslims with their nonsense. The same goes for radical feminist.

I don’t think that’s true. Islam specifically called the killing a sacrifice to God and has the killer say a prayer of sacrifice to Allah. Judaism is a method of butchering. Eating meat that has been sacrificed was called out in the Acts of the Apostles.
