Wow, that was a good deal! I’ve wondered if some major retailers had price differences between online and brick/mortar outlets. I guess they are trying to compete for the folks who shop primarily online in addition to the in-store visitors. I guess I am now one of those “primarily online” people for non-grocery shopping, so a low price like that might bring me to Walmart.com whereas I don’t often visit their stores.
The one in NoVa near where I live doesn’t seem to have the stock. Also, it is never that busy when I get there.
My sense in Best Buy is that a lot of what they sell is crap, and what isn’t is priced too high given the commoditization of electronics. I went there three times while Christmas shopping this past season, and I left the store empty-handed each time.
I also agree Sears is dead meat. Try to locate a product on their web site and then find it in store. Good luck. Also, my local Sears stores are very run down and staffed almost exclusively by idle black and hispanic females who know nothing about their products, are unconcerned by that fact, and are generally content to glare while chewing gum as a cow does her cud when inconvenienced with a question. Maybe it’s because I still bother speaking English....

I bought a TV from them in 1997, it was still working in November, but I replaced it with an 1080 HDTV.
Lo and behold they both worked.
I tried to buy more of them.

The Kindle and Nook are both available at Staples (and they have a helpful side-by-side comparison of the models in a brochure, btw), and at least at one time, Bed Bath and Beyond had the Nook.
it has always been unpleasant to go to best buy. The music is too loud with store and boom boxes blaring. Sales people who only want to sell extended warrenty scams. They know nothing of their products.
TV’s are bait ans switch with off brand brackets to avoid price matching.
The only reason to go to best buy is to see a product (or out dated version of the product) and buy the same product for less on line for less aggrivation.
When it comes to promotions through the ranks, they don't do that which is why they really do need to use security to weed the hires.
This is a vicious circle that will take them down.
I got the same deal as you for the Bravia, plus the free Blueray DVD player at Christmas 2008. I was shocked when they delivered it in a crate with free shipping. The TV was marked down from $3600 (price at Best Buy) to $1999 plus free blue ray player delivered to my door for free and no high dollar TN sales tax. BB can kiss my patootie!
I love Amazon. I’ve had to return a few things over the years and have yet to have a problem. They’re amazing.
I bought my first TV online from Amazon over the holidays. It was a Sharp Quattron. Great TV; yeah and it actually worked despite the packaging being banged up. I didn’t even have to sign for it. Luckily I got home just as he was driving off.
Soon after I got it, I read about this UPS guy who dumped/tossed a TV over someone’s fence. Caveat Emptor!
Stay far away from HH Gregg....if you buy anything with cash over $250 and then need to return it, they make you wait 10 days to get a check from them. Doesn’t matter if you have a receipt. Policy is posted next to the checkout. Hubby and I were going to buy our son a laptop there and my husband had them void the transaction and walked out. They also talked my sister-in-laws father into a credit card he did not want or need. He walked in with cash to buy a TV and they got him so twisted around he got the card (older gentleman). SIL went in a read them the riot act.

lol, that was awesome! I cracked up at “Call 911!” I worked at Best Buy for about two years, and that’s about what I would expect from a Best Buy manager. They don’t deal with variables very well.
I would never have even thought to look up the racial mix of my town. Since you did, now you know.
However, the Best Buy I go to also serves several other little towns around here. but Texans usually are helpful and friendly people.
online taxation will only affect those sites in the usa.
it will just push online sales OUTSIDE the usa.
Man, if I had a great truck like an F-150 I’d do the same.
I usually see the same Porsche in that “Fuel Efficient” reserved parking spot at Best Buy, and it’s not green either.
