Rick Santorum Defends Anti Gay Marriage Stance: Marriage Is the Glue That Holds the Family Together
FOX News ^ | 01-02-12 | Studio B

Posted on 01/02/2012 9:56:53 PM PST by Lazlo in PA

In an interview on Studio B Monday, Shepard Smith challenged Rick Santorum on his position on gay marriage. Santorum said that whether homosexuals should be allowed to marry is really a question of values, saying, “The question is whether we should change the laws of this country to reflect a different value structure. What we’re talking about here are different values. We have to Judeo-Christian values that are based on Biblical truth and truth that can be acclaimed and resolved through reason. And, those truths don’t change just because people’s attitudes may change.”

He went onto say, “People are allowed to love a lot of different people and a lot of different, and we honor those relationships, but we don’t call them marriage and we don’t treat them like marriage.”

Santorum concluded, “Family is the foundation of our society and marriage is the glue that holds that family together. That’s not being against anybody, that’s being for something.”

Marriage is sanctioned by the state. Look at the laws governing inheritance. Go back to Roman times and follow the progress of laws forward. “Civil Unions” are a contrivance but they give to the parties virtually the same rights as partners to a marriage have. Yet two brothers/sisters living together ; two close friends with no sexual relationship are denied these same rights.

Man, it sure seems like it wasn’t all that long ago, that even the pro-homo movement didn’t want “gay marriage.” It’s almost like their culture hijack got hijacked and they went along like sheeple.

Marriage is for the establishment of BLOOD LINE INHERITANCE.

Gays do not reproduce. Therefore. there is no transfer of property to the next generation.

“Yet two brothers/sisters living together ; two close friends with no sexual relationship are denied these same rights.”

Familial relationships “Blood lines” are covered by long (Thousands of years) of inheritance rules, that vary by culture.

“Two close friends” have no rights, whatsoever, over familial rights.

I am liking him more each day.

All he has to do is to keep saying that while marriage should be between a man or a woman, that in a free country, people can choose the .lifestyle they wish. That a conservative Constitutional administration will protect their Gd given freedoms whether others like it or not. That every life is precious, gay, straight, black, white, polka dotted. He could clean up for us all on this issue. He must not let the Glee Club define the issue. Get out in front of wanting every american to live the life of his choice, unfettered by gov’t control.

As to the first line, even adoptive children do not inherit in Texas, except by will, in many cases.

As to gay marriage, it took a long while to obtain the abolition of common law marriage, but since 1970, it is quickly become the norm. Gay marriage is simply the reductio ad absurdum of this process. The finally stake in the heart of traditional marriage. Instead we have the idea of purely emotional relationships. When the emotion goes away, the relationship ends.

We need a CLEAR choice between Obama and the GOP Nominee.

There is NO CLEAR CHOICE if if is Obama vs. Romney.

It is a very clear choice, the chance for the Republic to speak and say whether it wishes to continue to be destined for the ash heap of history, if it is OBAMA VS> SANTORUM, I am becoming increasingly convinced.

Also, the anal cavity is NOT A SEX ORGAN. It was designed for one thing only, defecation, evacuation of human waste.

It was not designed or intentioned as a recipient of a male penis. Physiologically, historically, morally, religiously.

Sorry to get graphic, but homosexuality is an afront to God's natural law, in addition to being devoid of ways to reproduce the human race naturally.

He is an authentic leader, save for his support of Arlen Specter which was, and forever will be a disaster.

Queer Nation and their friends in the media, (as well as NAMBLA) will terrorize him - and this election may become the bellwether on gay marriage.

The Romney attack will be interesting as well. He will now be head to head with a fearless, determined conservative with nothing like the polluted baggage of a Newt Gingrich.

He has been consistent during the culture war even when atrociously maligned and even when everybody else was running for cover. He has the courage of his convictions—indeed refreshing. Go, Rick!!

You guys don’t get it:

The main reason the homos want to have their marriages recognized is for THE BENEFITS (so-called spousal health/dental/life insurance).

We need to eliminate the difference in treatment of benefits for married vs. single people for employees and then there will be no incentive for the shirt-lifters to grab for benefits.

In other words: Each employee receives ONE UNIT of benefits no matter what his/her marital/sexual orientation.

The Gay Marriage movement is really just another variant of the socialist agenda. It’s all about LIBERAL GREED.

As for the religious angle, since we presumably have separation of church and state, it should not matter what the bible says about gays for how the gov’t handles this.

They are people and should have basic human rights, correct? The Libertarian stance would be let homos get married if they want to, but don’t accord them (or married people) any different amount of benefits.

I personally don’t care what the homos do. Let them get married (hey, that means less men competing for women for us single guys) but don’t force me to pay extra for their “spousal benefits”.

That is the proper Civic argument against Gay Marriage.

"I am liking him more each day."

Me too. I saw the "Interview" with pretty boy Shep. Shep did his best to shake Rick on gay marriage. Rick stood his ground with good answers. It was obvious Rick knew Sheppie boy likes other boys.

One thing I like about Santorum.. he presents his views on issues and doesn`t shift them with the prevailing winds.

“This is what I believe, take it or leave it.. but I`m not compromising,” seems to be the message here. Works for me.

More like once they got the camel’s nose under the tent they began working on the rest of the animal.

It saddens me to see how successful they have been at convincing otherwise sensible people that this disorder is just another acceptable way of pairing.

No, you don’t get it. What they want is for all of us to sanction their disordered lives. They want there to be no restrictions on acting out on any sort of sexual desires involving any sort of object or animal, including our children and our pets.

As far as I know...Obama has not yet officially backtracked on what he stated during the ‘08 campaign...that he also believes marriage is between a man and a woman.

The libs want to ignore that. I hope that when the firestorm rains down on Santorum, he will remember this and point out that he and the president actually agree on this (hee hee)

This is also why Santorum won't back down. He went through the same thing in his unsuccessful 2006 reelection bid here.

The gay mafia absolutely hates him. He knows how to talk back to them and to the media.

Just a few months ago, I had real reservations about supporting him given the sound drubbing he got in his reelection bid.

But I can't help but admire the way he has fought back. If I lived in Iowa, I'd definitely caucus for him tonight.

Not only is Santorum staunchly opposed to this fantasy of same-sex "marriage," but he is one of only a few candidates who understands the corrosive, destructive, diabolical nature of activist homosexuality in total. No ENDA will come from his desk like it will from Mittens' desk.

It cannot be stated too strongly: If we only stop at opposing same-sex "marriage" we have completely lost the fight.

figures it would be homosexual shepard smith.

Santorum conceeded the logic and reason argument by relying on the crutch of mere faith. Santorum, should have said used logic and reason IN ADDITION to the mere faith argument.

There is no benefit to society with homosexual conduct. Society rewards the institution of marriage because it promotes the continued existence of society. marriage is NOT about an individuals fetish for achieving orgasm.

He is an authentic leader, save for his support of Arlen Specter which was, and forever will be a disaster.

It was one of those agonizing decisions to get ultimate good accomplished, although it resulted in the election of a Democommie in RINO clothing. Santorum secured Specter's vote for Justice Roberts in exchange for the endorsement. So it wasn't without purpose.

Thankfully, Specter's demise was ultimately accomplished.
