ROBERT REICH: Get Ready For A Romney-Rubio Ticket
Business Insider ^ | 01/03/2012 | Robert Reichhhhhhhh

Since my New Year’s prediction that Obama would select Hillary Clinton for his running mate in 2012 (and Joe Biden would become Secretary of State), I’ve been swamped by requests for my GOP prediction. Here goes.

You can forget the caucuses and early primaries. Mitt Romney will be the nominee. Republicans may be stupid but the GOP isn’t about to commit suicide. The other candidates are all weighed down by enough baggage to keep a 747 on the tarmac indefinitely.

For his running mate, Romney will choose Marco Rubio, the junior senator from Florida. Why do I say this?

First, Romney will need a right-winger to calm and woo the Republican right. Tea Partiers are attracted to Rubio – an evangelical Christian committed to reducing taxes and shrinking government. Rubio’s meteoric rise in the Florida House before coming to Congress was based on a string of conservative stances on state issues.

Rubio is also a proven campaigner, handily winning four House elections starting in 2002, and then beating popular incumbent Republican governor Charlie Crist in the 2010 Republican primary — with the help of Tea Partiers.

Moreover, he’s only 40, thereby giving the GOP ticket some youthful vigor.

And he’s Hispanic – a Cuban-American – at a time when the GOP needs to court the Hispanic vote.

It is the “nice hair” ticket, so I could see how it would win the girl vote. Of course women would probably vote otherwise, and how many Joy Behar votes are there really?

Yes and Miami-born Marco Rubio meets the criteria of Natural Born Citizen just fine.

WRONG! Drew; The supreme court in three different cases defined “natural born citizen” as born on US soil of parents who where citizens prior to the child’s birth.

Those who control both parties (Those who call themselves progressives) all seem to get weak kneed for those with natural born citizen problems. Obama, McCain, Rubio, Jindal even Romney has some questions on his citizenship status.

Rubio must be the VP pick. That way Republicans can’t say a thing about that pesky “natural born citizen” problem. Those in control of the Democrat/Republican party have the problem firmly in hand.

Cynical of you to say so. Accurate. But cynical.
In fact, earlier today, the Democrat Candidate for the election of 2048 was born to two illegal aliens in LA. That's right, little Conchita Gonzalez-Gomez is a natural born citizen and will have a real Birth Certificate issued in LA County Hospital to back it up.

Hell, the way things are going, little Conchita might even be the Republican Candidate!

Well, according to all of the Constitutional “experts” here, if Vladimer Putin was born in Florida, he could run for POTUS.

Geezus.....

Doesn’t a VP have to meet the same Natural Born criteria as the P?

Yes. But then again we have a pResident that may not be a natural born citizen as well.

But that's ok since he's a democRAT.

I always love it when a left wing Libtard starts telling us who will be on the next GOP presidential ticket. Now we dont’ have to wonder about it anymore.

Because both his parents were not US citizens at the time of his birth.

Putin was born in Hawaii. The Hawaiian DOH is faxing over an abstract of data on file as we speak.

A little research into this would clarify the eligibility issue. Try it.

RUBIO IS NOT A NATURAL BORN CITIZEN.

Neither is Obama, but he's in the White House. Is there a double standard somewhere that I'm missing?

RUBIO IS NOT A NATURAL BORN CITIZEN.

That is only accurate in birther-world.

In the real world Rubio was born in Miami, Florida and is a natural born US citizen. Period.

And despite Rubio's suggesting that he won't accept the VP job, I think that was just to tamp down the buzz about him. It is very likely he will be offered the slot almost no matter who wins our nomination.

Were Rubio’s parents U.S. citizens at the time of his birth?
