It wasn’t for a lack of trying on Michele’s part. She gave it her all and had a momentary rise, but it faded quickly.
She’s done grand things for the TEA Party movement and she’ll continue to do so.
Godspeed, Michele!
What bothered me most about here is that she immediate attacked dogged whoever was in front at the time. Problem was she won the Iowa straw poll and had great momentum going into the first debate. She was the leader and had the perfect opportunity to run with the ball.
But she blew it. Instead of acting like a front runner she came across as a opportunistic harpy and fringe candidate. Except for one or two times she avoided Romney in all those attacks though he was in reality the strongest overall player the whole time. If she was not a stalking horse she sure looked like one. A conservative like her should have honed in on Romney 75% of the time.
I can’t abide a candidate that shoots themselves in the foot like that. I like her, don’t disagree with her on much, and think she had her moments in the debates, but her campaign was one long atrocious drama.
I set the bar well above the O-level. There are about 12,000,000 illegals in the United States, and none of them are acceptable for the office, nor are the naturalized citizens, those mot natural born citizens, or the 149,000,000 citizens who will be under age 35 on January 20, 2013. That leaves only 148,000,000 eligible Americans under consideration. When you eliminate the mentally retarded (3%), those in prison (1%), and those over age 80 (3%), that leaves only 131,000,000 who could reasonably be considered for the position of President of the United States. Giving Obama the benefit of the doubt, I'd say that several thousand of those 131 million are no more qualified for the White House than the current occupant of that formerly great position.
Romney is barely above average among those who might reasonably be considered, Bachmann, Perry, and Newt are in the top 5%, and even Ron Paul is above O.
Best wishes, Michele.
That statement is so unfair. Did you even listen to her withdrawal statement? Bachmann is a woman of great dignity and fortitude. She was in the race because she believes in the good old fashioned American Values of decency which we have lost over the last several years. She has too much good character for you to even understand. It is a shame that people have lost the aptitude to understand who is a decent person, who they are and what makes them a strong character. I feel sorry for many on this site who just don’t get it.
This is when the campaign's financial guy says "We're broke, Michele. Actually, we're worse than broke, we owe $xxx, xxx. The longer we go, the more you are going to owe."
“So Iowa decides for all of us?”
When you are out of money, you are out. Oh, you can run around in a rental car and lose all the prestige you garnered when you were really in the race, but that’s not smart. The poor showing means the money will dry up immediately.
BTTT!
Hey, Huntsman caught fire last night. And...he’s spiraling in...to the ground.
YUP.
Good summary.
IIRC, Huntsman didn’t campaign in Iowa.
Early on in the campaign, Ed Rollins really hosed Bachmann when he sniped at Palin; who at the time was considering a run at the presidency.
That snipe did not sit well with the conservatives. Damage control was attempted, Rollins was later let go as campaign advisor, but Bachmann’s shine was dulled. Been downhill ever since.
I’m still a big Bachmann fan and look forward to whooping the liberal agendas with her this year.
Like Red Green says: “I’m pulling for ya ... we’re all in this together!”
Bachmann’s concession speech was very good.
If she would have
1)Focused more on Obama than inventing retardation side effects from vaccines...
2)Stated her case like she did today, vs. being an attack dog against other conservatives..
...maybe she’d still be in the race
I appreciate her good work in Congress.
Bachmann had no real national organization. Her only hope was a surprise (by the time September rolled around, it was pretty clear she wasn't going anywhere) victory in Iowa to jump-start the fundraising process.
For the most part, I can't see why she bothered staying in this long, except look at what the power of simply hanging around did for the current not-Romney of the week Santorum.
Cherry, I agree. Thank you Michele as you have been strong for conservative values. And we still need your voice!
BUT, he is a special case relative to Paul or Bachmann in that he was in the presidential line of succession while Speaker.
The question today is this: how soon Bachmann will endorse Romney?

She wasn’t last. Kind of funny how they count:
Mitt Romney 30,015 24.6%
Rick Santorum 30,007 24.5%
Ron Paul 26,219 21.4%
Newt Gingrich 16,251 13.3%
Rick Perry 12,604 10.3%
Michele Bachmann 6,073 5%
Jon Huntsman 745 0.6%
Herman Cain 58 0%
Buddy Roemer 31 0%
No Preference 135 0.1%
Other 117 0.1%
