'Occupy Congress' seeks permit for Jan. 17 protest
By: Aubrey Whelan | 01/04/12 12:18 PM

Occupy Congress, a national group partnering with Occupy DC for a major protest this month, is slowly moving forward in its efforts to aquire a permit for the protest.

The group has scheduled a meeting Thursday with the National Parks Service to discuss getting a permit that would allow up to 10,000 people to protest outside the Capitol on Jan. 17.

Participant Mario Lozada said protesters are trying to avoid the mass arrests that Occupy DC endured in early December during a week of similar protests with the labor union-backed group Take Back the Capitol.

Lozada said protesters will ask for permission to set up "basic soundsystems" and portable toilets outside the Capitol on Jan. 17, the day Congress is scheduled to return to work. They're also need to work out a route for the march.

Still, Occupy Congress plans to stage the protest, which is expected to draw about 2,000, with or without a permit.

"Permit or not, it's happening and it's going to be big," Lozada said.

Don’t any of these people have anything else to do- like going to a job? And how are these travel expenses paid?

The funny part is it took them how long to figure that you should send the message to Congress? Sometimes I wonder, or wait, almost feel I know that “Occupy” is loaded with potheads.

Notice how Code Pink has seemingly disappeared only to be replaced with a new crowd of Communists?

Recall that members of Congress and the Press gave passes and excuses for the Code Pink protests to afforded them dangerous security clearance access to Bush administration figures.

Recall also some turncoat gave a Code Pinko stinko a ringside seat at the McCain nomination at the GOP convention in 2008 where she screeched during his acceptance speech.

The barricades have been breeched. Traitors reside within our government. Nothing new. It was true half a century ago. Just pointing it out.

How long have I been suggesting that the Occupy crowd target their protests against the real culprits?

Sounds like they’ve finally identified the real sources of our economic train wreck.

Maybe they’ll then target the White House for protests, and I’ll happily watch the fun on TV while eating popcorn and sipping some Maker’s Mark...

Wouldn’t it be interesting if Obama won a second term but the r’s swept the house and senate.

That said, I still don’t think Obama will finish his first term.

On what basis would any government agency give these guys a permit?

The Occupy ????? movement has proven again and again what a filthy disgusting law-breaking group they are.

Just say no...

They’re seeking a permit this time ? Isnt that a first for the Occupy movement ? I am pretty sure last time they thought permits were for those lame-ass uncool Tea Party types. What made them suddenly decide to start following the rules ?

It’ll be interesting to see how the media treats this if they do indeed protest Congress.

The media are in love with government, they’ll have to make the occupiers their enemy, after glowing tributes to their cause when the enemy was Wall Street.

Sounds like a great plan!
