Newt on Newt: More Reagan, Less Massachusetts
CNBC ^ | 12-4-2012 | Staff

Posted on 01/04/2012 9:20:46 PM PST by TitansAFC

Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich may not have finished in the top ranks in Iowa, but he thinks upcoming primaries are still up for grabs and his Reagan-like leanings still make him a contender.

"I think our plan is to compete with Romney here in New Hampshire, which is clearly his stronghold," Gingrich said in an interview with CNBC Wednesday as he campaigned in the state. "It's one of his best three states. I mean if he can't win here he wouldn't be able to stay in the race; so I assume he'll win here but I think we can make it much narrower and I think we can draw sharply the distinction between his kind of moderate Massachusetts approach and my kind of Reagan conservative approach. And then I think our goal is to win in South Carolina and Florida."....

"We're not going to be running the kind of attack ads he's been running," the former speaker said. "We're not going to run ads that lie about his record. But it is fair to say that as a Massachusetts moderate his record is very dramatically different than a Reagan conservative. And so starting this morning in the Union Leader we laid out a full page ad that shows you how big the gap is."....

"It's something that the American people have to ask. I mean, if someone has no record of reforming things and no record of actually achieving anything in terms of conservative values, then having them give speeches about their conservatism I think has to be seen as suspect."...

"I think it would be helpful to tell the truth about his positions, it would be helpful to tell the truth about his PAC, which he won't even tell us who gives him all the money.......

The media will scream like castrated pigs over the shrill, mean Newt. I hope he lets Willard have it with both barrels.

No matter what, this is going to be a great debate on Saturday. I am looking forward to it. I guess it will be Santorum and Romney in the middle with Newt on the other side of Romney, Paul or Perry next to Santorum and Huntsman at one of the ends. It is going to be so interesting.

Actually, Newt should be even more specific. Romney often says that he had lean to the liberal side in Mass, in order to get things done in a liberal state.

Well- why should one expect any different if he becomes President?

Newt needs to go 25% myth and 75% media about myth. The reason we’re not winning is the media.

This is exactly what I said to my friends at the caucus last night. You take enough chances that some bozo is going to start swinging left when he gets in office - why would I vote for someone I KNOW will go overboard to work with leftists rather than stick to conservative principles? If that stuff works in MA, then let him stay in MA. I don’t want him in the WH.

Not to mention the Romney-shills here on FR.
