Growing numbers of New Yorkers seeking food stamps have created an unwelcome spillover effect at some of New York City's job centers: overcrowding that in some cases has grown so severe, benefits were jeopardized. The crush of people grew so large at one Brooklyn center in November that the Fire Department intervened and prevented anyone from entering the building.

"Cloward-Piven" You are correct.

These methods proved effective. "The flooding succeeded beyond Wiley's wildest dreams," writes Sol Stern in the City Journal. "From 1965 to 1974, the number of single-parent households on welfare soared from 4.3 million to 10.8 million, despite mostly flush economic times. By the early 1970s, one person was on the welfare rolls in New York City for every two working in the city's private economy." As a direct result of its massive welfare spending, New York City was forced to declare bankruptcy in 1975. The entire state of New York nearly went down with it. The Cloward-Piven strategy had proved its effectiveness.

As a Conservative, is it wrong to think that “Cloward Piven” might actually turn out be a good thing?

It all depends who picks up the pieces when SHTF, doesn’t it?

It certainly would reduce the political clout of places like NY City.

So, unemployment insurance recipients is down by a million and, coincidentally, the welfare roles increase by the same amount.

Is that kinda what we’re seeing here?

Let NY Mayor Dumbberg pay the welfare claims. He has a shit load of money and we don’t want him to spend it on buying himself a fourth term mayorship.
