TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) - The Islamic Society of Greater Lafayette has passed the first hurdle to build a community center.
Tippecanoe County Commissioners approved a rezoning request Tuesday for 10 acres at the southwest corner of County Farm Road and "County Road 500 North.
Commissioner David Byers said he took into consideration the few people who had concerns about the religious aspect of the project. But he said more people were worried about different issues.
"They were mainly concerned about water run-off, lights shining into their houses at night, potentially extra noise," Byers said.
Byers said the organization now has to put plans together for the center, apply for building permits and address potential drainage issues.
Any thoughts on prepping the building site.

I am sure they know blood runs downhill. That should help with managing the output from honor killings and the like...
Why don’t they call these things what they are: mosques. ??? Instead, they call it a “community center,” when most of the surrounding community will not use it. When the “call to prayer” emanates 5 times a day, they will surely know it is a mosque.
