Can a mundane defense authorization law create an Obama dictatorship? Many people on the political right and left have been alarmed by language in the 2012 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) that they argue authorizes the president to use military force to capture, detain, torture and kill Americans at home and abroad. The furor centers on Sections 1021 and 1022 of the law, which deal with detaining terrorist suspects. Specifically at issue is to what extent the law allows the government to treat American citizens like enemies of the state.

Is anyone talking about alternate communication channels in case that happens? Set up mirror sites overseas, maintain email lists and construct ad-hoc networks if necessary. Make them play whack-a-mole ad nauseum (theirs, hopefully)
You missed this on the the DHS monitoring list:
“This is a representative list of sites that the NOC will start to monitor in order to provide situational
awareness and establish a common operating picture under this Initiative. Initial sites listed may link to
other sites not listed. The NOC may also monitor those sites if they are within the scope of this Initiative.”
I would like to have your level of trust for the gov’t “just doing it’s job”, but trends I observe do not allow me to do so. The Washington Times is not some crank web site.

1. That remains as hearsay unless more documentation is provided.
2. Almost EVERY candidate becomes a target for such threats.
Though I liked Mr. Cain, I have serious doubts that this was his reason for dropping out.
Maybe the KGB just went to Indonesia, pounded the pavement and built a file. That file is in a fax machine, a finger is over the send button waiting for US missile plans and that finger is starting to get the shakes from Vodka with drawls.

It does not appear that the GOP, or the military, understand what is happening.
You sir, are very correct. It may appear that the GOP & military do not understand what is happening, but all I speak to seem to understand. That IS the troubling part.
My congressman recently has decided to not seek re-election. I am puzzled by his actions. He is one of the good guys and would easily be re-elected. Now, there may be a family or health reason for him that is valid. But it makes me wonder what he knows that I do not. Very troubling.
Expect more and expect worse. Where is the opposition? Where is the GOP? We are in really, really dangerous territory here. And I still see a whole lot of denial — here on Free Republic.

And then there are the trolls. Constantly trying to stir up controversy and division. Eventually they are silenced, but it takes a long time as long as they “sort of” abide by the rules. The personal attacks are the hat tip.
Yep, we are in serious danger as a nation.
