So, The action is appeasement and has no real effect on current leases or mines.
if the current claims peter out another President can restore the ability to mine if actually needed

I wonder how much uranium is “in them thar hills?” Are we talking about a few hundred tons or millions? Seems to me that if we need uranium to power nuclear power plants, we should be farming it from our own natural resources; but, OH YEAH! We’re not allowing any new nuclear power plant construction.
Silly me.

It would be interesting to see the measle sheet on exactly where the active mines and claims are located in relation to the park’s boundaries. My guess is they aren’t even that close to be any factor.

Is it true that our submarines will be powered by solar energy and all nuclear plants shall change to wind power. Once that happens we can add more white to our flag.

I see ‘Protected’ made it into the title
No bias here
because mining is evil, and we must ‘protect’ those lands from it.

***Approximately 3,200 mining claims are currently located in the withdrawal areas. ****
I lived at Moab UT, back in 1955. There were piles of stone everywhere put up as claim markers.
On a trip to Dead Horse Point, these markers were everywhere.
I went back through there in 1998. There was not a claim marker anywhere to be seen.
My dad worked at the Rattlesnake Uranium mine, La Sal. Best time of my young life!

If I recall, during the Clinton administration he too signed a bill banning some sort of mining around the Grand Canyon area.......
Looks like the Grand Canyon is becoming the most protected hole in the ground on this entire plant.......
