Andy Roth with Club for Growth says...." Rick Perry has the BEST Plans, if not THE BEST PLANS for our economy.
CLUB FOR GROWTH, GRADE ALL GOP CANDIDATES YESTERDAY ON CAVUTO.
WINNER --Rick Perry gets an A grade ("has one of the best if not the best plan")
Ron Paul-- gets a very good grade (for what he wants to do)
Rick Santorum/ Newt Gingrich--- get "C" grades ( bad past records)
Jon Huntsman-- gets Incomplete grade (his plan is incomplete)
Mitt Romney--- gets " worst fail " grade ( Andy Roth says.... "he deserves to be in last place" )

In fact, the president of the Club for Growth, Chris Chocola, called Rick Perry's new plan "massively pro-growth" in a statement..
"Rick Perry’s plan for tax reform would be massively pro-growth. A Flat Tax like the one proposed by Perry would unleash years of economic growth if it is passed into law. Furthermore, eliminating the tax on dividends and capital gains would immediately add trillions of dollars in new wealth to the economy, benefiting all Americans. Perry clearly understands that revitalizing the economy should start with a complete overhaul of a tax code that has nearly choked economic growth to death. Conservatives looking for a champion to carry the banner of a pro-growth tax reform will surely rally behind this bold proposal."

I saw it yesterday on TV. They were graded on their records as well as their recent promises, the second being next to meaningless in my opinion.
Not a pretty situation.
I saw it too. The Club for Growth is pulling no punches.
It's my understanding that the Club for Growth has a very active chapter in South Carolina. It will be interesting to see how this impacts the Jan. 21st primary there. The timing couldn't be better for Perry, IMO.

Bold tax reform doesn’t make it optional and doesn’t promote tax freeloading with huge deductions.

What are you referring to?
Perry’s tax plan is both optional and retains huge standard deductions. A family of four has to make over $50K before they become taxpayers. Voting while not paying taxes is called tax freeloading.
It’s my understanding that the optional aspect is a temporary transitional feature of the plan and that the current tax code would be completely eliminated after the first eight years.

Just looking at the proposed Tax Return “Form EZR” it’s clear that a family of four would have $50,000(4x$12,500) in standard exemptions plus four other eligible deduction categories.

Obviously a family of four would probably pay all kinds of taxes other than a federal flat tax, so the “tax freeloading” charge needs to be defined.
So with a typical mortgage, local taxes, and charitable giving, a family of four would contribute NOTHING out of their first $65K+ of income toward the cost of the federal government.
You don’t see the problem with that ? The ‘rich’ will carry the entire burden of defense, judiciary, penal system, welfare, etc. while the average Joe contributes a few dollars in fuel, liquor, and tobacco taxes. That’s the way you want things ?
What’s wrong with a 10% tax on all income and no deductions or exemptions ? Isn’t (defense, judiciary, penal system, welfare, etc.) worth a dime out of every dollar even to those families earning under $65K ? Why should we expect the most successful in society to provide all these things free to the middle class ? What happened to our pride in being able to provide for ourselves ?
There is nothing wrong with finding a suitable horse that will get us from here to there - as plans such as Perry’s plan does - and there is everything wrong with a purity-freak who insists that we either teleport instantly from here to there or else do nothing at all (which is the practical effect of what you’re proposing).
Your post implies that plans like Perry’s that pretend to be tax reform yet exacerbate the problem of voters being removed from tax responsibility is a step ‘forward’.
They are not. They worsen the problem. The ‘problem’ is not simply tax complexity. The bigger problem is the idea that large groups of people should take no responsibility for the cost of government. The idea that success should be punished by putting the entire burden of paying for government on the high achievers and corporations is very dangerous. The next step after that is communism.
