Jim DeMint: Romney will win South Carolina
The Washington Examiner's Beltway Confidential ^ | January 10, 2012 | Charlie Spiering

Posted on 01/10/2012 11:07:04 PM PST by 2ndDivisionVet

On Mark Levin's radio show this evening, conservative Sen. Jim DeMint of South Carolina predicted that Republican frontrunner Romney would win the state in the upcoming Presidential primary.

"I think Romney's going to win here," said DeMint, "I think that some of the other that might have had an advantage here have really crossed ways with some Republicans as they've criticized free enterprise concepts." DeMint said, clearly referencing Jon Huntsman, Rick Perry and Newt Gingrich's recent attacks on Romney's record at Bain capital.

Demint added that he liked Romney's acceptance speech tonight, noting that, "He’s hitting a lot of the hot buttons for me about balancing the budget, and frankly I’m a little concerned about the few Republicans who have criticized some of what I consider free market principles here,” DeMint said.

DeMint said he was not going to endorse a candidate yet, because he wanted to focus on the Senate.

"I want to help deliver a conservative Senate, otherwise it doesn’t matter who is in the White House.” he said.

This isn't an endorsement (thank God), but it is his opinion/prediction, and if Romney can/does win south carolina, then the GOP can go to hell, and it'll clearly be a sign that the tea party has lost.

If a liberal can win the republican party nomination for President, then what good is the republican party ?

“He endorsed Gov. Romney last time.”

That’s the first thing I thought of.

He endorsed Gov. Romney last time.

On the one hand, it was Romney or McCain.
On the other hand, he'd have been better off just keeping his mouth shut.

I like DeMint a lot so this is annoying.

I used to like many politicians. Not anymore. They are ALL part of the evil political class. Trust none of them, like none of them.

They all exist to increase the power of the State.

No leader today can even begin to approach the greatness of our Founders. They were truly Revolutionaries -- geniuses who loved above all, Liberty. They handed down a blueprint that allowed Capitalism to flourish and the individual to live life like few humans before.

Over time, Statists in both parties have morphed our Republic into a Socialist hell.

The more I contemplate, the more it seems that our only way out is for new Revolutionaries to rise at the state level and push their states to dissolve this Socialist USA and reconstitute the Republic of the United States. The dissolution must involved the complete elimination of ALL Federal departments not authorized by the Constitution. All programs must be ended in a rapid fashion.

The transition back to true Liberty can only happen in a sudden manner -- we cannot legislate or "transition" back to Liberty.

Jim DeMint is a member of the government class that is crushing our future. He has no interest in truly restoring our Republic -- he is just another member of the contemptible political class.

IMHO, the Republican Party hasn’t been worth a damn since President Reagan left office. :(

Senator DeMint ought to check with the Club for Growth and see what they have to say on the candidates’ economic plans. (hint: Romney - epic fail)

If Romney wins South Carolina, then we might as well sit back and watch the country go to hell, because it will be past saving.

Restoration of constitutional government will need to wait until conditions are right for action OUTSIDE the electoral system, because it will never again be allowed to happen within the system.

Problem is they’re either cowards or they’re bought off with Romney’s big money as past or future campaign donations. Once they think they can see who the winner’s going to be, many of them will at that point jump alongside them and say, “Hey, I was with you all along!”

You have to somewhat admire the Democrats last time for rallying their grass-roots base and bucking the establishment candidate to pick the one that truly represented their convictions, as misguided as they were. The fact that our much-vaunted Tea Party hasn’t been able to prevent the elite establishment candidate from becoming the frontrunner is an epic fail.

The various Tea Party groups ought to all get together, agree on an acceptable list of candidates, take their own private poll, and agree to uniformly endorse one candidate, whichever one wins their poll. Endorsing is the difference between having a massive influence and rendering yourself irrelevant. How they missed this opportunity is baffling.

We're doomed I tell yunz.

We have to start all over again and build a conservative state from the ground up.

Beating Obama in 2012 is NOT the most important aspect of this election. The most important aspect is working to elect as many conservatives in local, state and congressional offices as possible.

A RINO presidential win does nothing but groom 2016 for a complete and total takeover of the federal government by the communists.

Yep, so all their good work over the next forty years can be thrown out by the marxist, activist Obama Supreme Court --- you know, the one that will see Sotomayor as CJ from 2025 - 2050.

The game is rigid that is why.

It’s why they will not allow all 50 states to vote on the same day for the nominee. It would be a lot harder for the elite to steal. So they want three tiny states to tell the other 47 who the nominee will be.

I hate to say it but our combined efforts haven’t worked. Time for individual action.

Yep and very stupid political tactic. Obama is very beatable, but the Republican elite want to make sure Obama gets another 4 years.
