On MSNBC just now, South Carolina Democratic chair Dick Harpootlian painted Republican voters there as potentially refusing to vote for a Mormon, while trying to make it so. From memory: It does not bother me that he may believe the Garden of Eden is in Missouri, but it may bother them.

Judging by what’s been here on FR for the last year or so, I’d say being a Mormon is at least 50% of the reason why freepers won’t vote for him. After all, a cultist just cannot be a true conservative.
Mittens is unelectable. We all better pray he’s not the nominee.

This is an ugly card and I hope...Am I supposed to support the weirdo because Democrats attack him on grounds of his faith? Or because Democrats imply that GOPers are bigots? I could not possibly care less. I oppose Willard Mitt Romney because of RomneyCare with its new rules, its new taxes, its assumptions about using state power to pursue progressive goals, its exchanges, and its mandates, a program that is functionally identical to ObamaCare. I will never support Romney; I will never vote for Romney. I will actively oppose him whether in the primaries or the general election.

If a decades-old DUI charge was enough to make evangelical voters refuse to go vote for G.W. Bush, Romney’s faith will certainly cause the same effect. And, the libs have been counting on it.

I really couldn’t care less about the Mormonism thing. I like Glenn Beck, dislike Mitt Romney, and despise Harry Roid. I like John Huntsman Sr and Dislike John Huntsman Jr.
No, I just thought it was an interesting benchmark. If Romney is the nominee he will be mercilessly hammered for being a 'weirdo' on his faith by the diversity-loving Democrats. This is the firt open shot that I've seen.
