Mitt Romney/Nikki Haley 2012 or Gingrich/Palin 2012?

Romney’s victory in New Hampshire can almost deliver the nomination to him — and, I am convinced, the presidency. There cannot be a more auspicious moment. Having a man from Bain come in and restore your company or country is like having Chef Gordon Ramsay reawaken your restaurant. And Romney brings skills to his task akin to those of Dwight D. Eisenhower.

It is a transitional moment, but it might even be considered a transcendent moment. Barack Obama’s job was to complete a work project begun long ago by Jack Kennedy and Eisenhower and even further back to Lincoln, Emerson and Garrison. This aspect he has graciously mastered and completed.

But we are a different country today than we were in 1831, 1865 or 1956; a rich and full country and one that looks auspiciously out across the Pacific as well as the Atlantic. A place today like Black Elk looked to as “the center of the world,” East, West, South and the Great White North. So 2012 brings a beginning and there is no one better to begin new processes, systems and establishments than Romney. There is no better man for our times.

Providing everything goes well in South Carolina, which today is more important than New Hampshire.

2012 could bring Romney/Haley 2012 or Romney/Perry or Romney/Petraeus, but this has been the political season of the trickster and the trickster is still at large. So South Carolina could just as easily bring Gingrich/Palin 2012. I think Romney has it. But the departure of Bill Daley from the White House is also ominous. Daley is honest and honorable. He was the first to speak out about the direction of the Obama presidency, claiming that it was leaving the middle behind. It appeared that Daley was brought into the White House to accommodate that middle. Now that he is being sent out it appears that the middle — and Daley’s warning to Obama — is being abandoned and the president will pursue a more radical agenda. This could bring crisis to a divided America like we have not seen in a hundred years.

Excuse me.

I was born and raised in NJ and have lived my last 8 years adult life in Manhattan, so this north-easterner, in no way that any human, alien, or slug could define, find him appealing.

Mitt is awful, he literally equals every lib. Most of my educated friends and co-workers here in on the island don’t support Mitt. It is usually Newt for the more moderate types and Santorum for the political types (like me).

Mitt appeals to Massh()les, that’s about it. LOL

JK- I love people all you people from Mitt land. =P

Natural Born Citizen does not require having US citizens for parents if you are born in the United States.

Since when? Both parents must be citizens of the US at the time of your birth. They can be naturalized, but the must be citizens. nd if your parents were naturalized citizens, but worked for the government, or the military, and were stationed overseas where you were born, you'd be a natural born citizen too.

Serously? Ever heard of the phrase "anchor baby?"

Read the 14th Amendment to the Constitution:

"All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the state wherein they reside."
The constitution says nothing about the citizenship of the parents.

Different status. Of course people born here are automatically citizens, but they are not NATURAL BORN CITIZENS. NBC is a special status established by the Founders as a requirement for the Presidency and the VP only.

Anchor babies are NATIVE born, not natural born. There are half a dozen supreme court cases on record differentiating this. The founders’ intent was to make sure that the person occupying the office of President held no allegience to any other country.

That may be the way you want it to be, and that certainly is the way I want it to be, but that's not the way it currently is.

The Supreme Court in United States v. Wong Kim Ark answered the question that anyone born in the United States is a United States Citizen.

Furthermore, the Fourteenth Amendment only recognizes two types of citizenship; natural born and naturalized. There is no third category that you are trying to create.

So until we have a Constitutional Amendment clarifying that children born in the US to non-US citizen parents do not receive US citizenship, or that children born of foreign parents are considered "naturalized" citizens, Haley, Jindal, and Rubio are legally natural born citizens.

Don't like it, but that's the way it is.

Here’s the text of Section ! of the 14th Amendment:

Section 1. All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.

You’ll notice there is no reference or use to the term “natural born citizen”, only “citizens”.

The 14th Amendment did not overturn, nor can it overturn the natural born citizen requirement for President in the original text of the Constitution.

Natural born citizen is a defined term, both at the time of the creation of the US Constitution, and in Minor v. Haperstett 1875.

Natural born citizen is one born in country of two CITIZEN parents, or out of country of the two
CITIZEN parents are in the servidce of the government.

You can be a citizen in one of three ways: born a citizen within the US, naturalized but born on another country, and natural born, born here of citizen parents.

The law does not say that natural born equals born citizen in any case.

If your parent(s) are not citizens of the US, and you are born here, you are a citizen, but not a natural born citizen, thus ineligible to be President or Vice President.

Rash assumption? The thought of Hillary jumping in to HELP Obama is the rash assumption.

Why would she? If Obama loses with Biden on the ticket, guess who the Democratic frontrunner is for POTUS in 2016.

But, if she runs and Obama loses, she goes down on the ship WITH him. The Clintons are a lot of things, but there’s no way that they are THAT politically stupid.
