Brady Campaign's 'too many victims' exposes true agenda

Posted on 01/11/2012 3:50:02 PM PST by marktwain

This past Sunday, on the anniversary of the shooting of Representative Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ) and 18 others (six fatally), the Brady Campaign held several candlelight vigils across the country, in observance of what they called the "Too Many Victims Lost to Gun Violence." The Brady Campaign expects Americans to accept as an article of faith that "stronger" gun laws would dramatically reduce the number of said victims--presumably reducing that number to an "acceptable" level.

That, of course, begs the question of what constitutes an "acceptable" number of people shot and wounded or killed. Luckily, we have Brady Campaign board member Joan Peterson to answer that question, as long as we don't ask for much in the way of coherence:

How many gunshot victims are too many victims? One. That's all. To every family who has lost a loved one to a bullet(s), one is too many.

Now think about that. What is being argued here is that we need more and stricter gun laws, so we'll no longer continue to have "too many victims." How many is "too many"? One. Therefore, until the number of people shot in the U.S. becomes zero, we need more oppressive gun regulation.

Of course, groups like the Brady Campaign, the Violence Policy Center, the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence, etc., claim not to be seeking outright bans of all guns, although most try desperately to hide their past advocacy of handgun bans.

This is the, "We don't care if you smoke. We just want you to sit in the back of the plane if you smoke." stage of their campaign.

We should apply those standards to everything else. Increase mileage standards until zero gallons of foreign oil are imported. Increase educational spending until there are no more stupid kids. Increase wealth distribution until there are no more rich people...Hey wait, I was just reading the Democrat platform.
