"Barbour said Wednesday that some people misunderstand the clemency process and believe that most of the individuals were still jailed."

And there you have it; we 'little people' a.k.a. rubes "just don't understand the "process". I mean really, what's a little murder anyway? Especially when said murderer became a trustee and actually worked at the Governor's mansion. We just don't get it ... of course if it had been Barbour's family members brutally snuffed out, his opinion might be a bit different. But, well, with a politician, you can never really tell about such things as they would sell their own mothers to get elected.

All makes perfect sense to me...

“Trustees should never be murderers.”

Amen to that...especially if it leads to pardons and back into society completely bypassing any objective review. Didn’t this get Huckabee in trouble as well?

"We have ordered that they report to the Department of Corrections' said Mississippi Attorney General Jim Hood."

Yeah, like that's going to happen.

Somewhere, Ray Blanton (former Governor of Tennessee) is laughing his ass off.

Apparently Barbour did not follow the prescribed state law in pardoning many of the prisoners (e.g. applying for pardons at least 30 days prior to the date of release, etc.).

“I wonder what the Gov’s motivation was for his actions, pardoning criminals? Any logical answers???”

I’m going to take a wild guess and theorize that Haley is collecting a little payola on the way out the door to feather his retirement nest. Remember when he was being touted as a great guy to run for President?

“Approximately 90 percent of these individuals were no longer in custody, and a majority of them had been out for years,” he said in a statement.

“The pardons were intended to allow them to find gainful employment or acquire professional licenses as well as hunt and vote. My decision about clemency was based upon the recommendation of the Parole Board in more than 90 percent of the cases

Well it's awfully hot, "somewhere".

One of these “trustees” killed his wife as she held their 6 week old baby. I don’t care how well he polished the furniture at the governor’s mansion.

A good friend of my family was the superintend of Parchman for awhile and often invited us to dinner. He used murderers for his house staff. Said they were the most trust worthy, thieve would try to steal and escape.

The republicans are doing all kind of things to help the democrats. Holding up unemployment and the payroll deduction right before Christmas was also to help the democrats. They KNEW both would be extended eventually but they prolonged it to make themselves look bad. It’s obvious “we the people” haven’t been of value for a long time.

I don’t believe 250 or more prisoners worked at the mansion.

That tracks what I remember Cornelia saying.

The thieves and such were more people who planned repeated crimes, the murderers were more likely to be people who snapped under a rare set of extraordinary circumstances.

It doesn’t sound fair that a few select prisoners are chosen to work at the mansion with promises of pardons. Shouldn’t every prisoner be given that opportunity? Wouldn’t every prisoner have angel behavior if he knew freedom was just around the corner?
