UNEXPECTED!!! The Labor Department works for Obama, they are his puppets. The unemployment rate is NOT improving. The fall in December was due to seasonal jobs, now that is over, unemployment will bounce back up, that and many many people are simply dropping out of the workforce

Yeah, following a “unexpectedly” low number for a holiday week. Imagine that. As predictable as dead people voting in Chicago.

400,000 is the `psychological barrier` so VOILA, the number is 399,000.

Everyone heard that jobs were back so they all went looking for them again. Trumping up the economy hurts Obama in some ways as it encourages those no longer looking for work to start looking again—which moves them to the unemployeed #.

I’m not believing “399,000” for a second. They’ll be quietly revising that one north of 400K within a few weeks. It’s all a frickin’ game with this group.

According the the BLS the current unemployment figures are:
U3 (official): 8.5%
U6: 15.2%

Personally, I believe that if accurate these numbers would indicate that the U3 is much closer the U6 and the U6 is in the 20-30% range.

Aren’t these “the seasonally adjusted” numbers? the actual numbers around 600,000?

And of course the DJIA shaved about 180 points for the day, just like it gained about 180 when the news recently was that the jobless claims were down.

No?

Funny how that only works one way.

And skewered/flooded by Federal and government pensions/retirements, the false so called “market” stays high, while rates for savers is stolen due to the resulting high commodity prices.

My sister lost her job last week after 26 years at the same place.

She’s devastated. She knew there was a chance but never thought it would come to this. I believe she was union, too, so we see how much that helped.

She told me 25 people were laid off last year because when they were drug tested, they failed. The company claimed “downsizing” but she told me they had plenty of work, but the union contract said if an employee failed a drug test, the company was to pay to send them to rehab! I would
have fired them all! Forced rehab to be paid by the employer?

She seemed to like her job but I told her the union was dragging her down, and it did, she was the senior person in her position and the union made her a liability to the company. Hopefully something better comes along or she can freelance or something.
