Ben Stein Sues: Ad Agency Replaced Me Over My Global-Warming Position

Ben Stein claims he's a victim of political discrimination.

The conservative pundit and actor -- and former Nixon speechwriter -- alleges that his position on climate change had him kicked off a $300,000 acting gig, only to be replaced by a lookalike.

Stein filed a discrimination suit against Japanese company Kyocera Corporation and New York ad agency Seiter & Miller Advertising, in Los Angeles Superior Court on Wednesday.

He is claiming breach of contract, wrongful discharge and emotional distress, among other charges.

Ben Stein supported Al Franken for U.S. Senate. Hardly a conservative except in the sense that Ann Coulter is one.

At best, Stein is a capitalist with libertarian tendencies and has a lot of socialist buddies like Franken.

He’s not exactly aging well. A look-alike might be an improvement.

He was on Neil Cavuto’s show in 2008 supporting the bailouts.

I thought ben was a global warming believer. He’s gone commie on everything else, and he lost my respect years ago. Of course, he is crazy about money.

This can’t bode well for future work can it? Folks would just steer clear rather than risk being sued if they were even considering hiring him.

Gee, the answer that they wanted was obvious.

Part One: Any time a white man farts, lights a match, cranks up his lawn mover or snow blower, Mother Ghia comes another second closer to implosion.

Part Two: Any time a bell rings, another Angel gets its wings. Send in Clarence, the earth needs help.

I think I'll dig out that movie and watch it tonight.

Agree with you. He originally caught my attention outside of his acting with some “common sense” style investing articles, and the next time I noticed him in an investing context he had gone completely left. I didn’t understand it, but I have to confess, I didn’t really care. If he loves him his money so much he should love him some mouthshut if he wants to be working.

"questions had been raised by defendant Kyocera about whether [Stein's] views on global warming and on the environment were sufficiently conventional and politically correct for Kyocera..."

Well I for one am glad to know that Kyocera is a politically correct AGW adocate. No more business for Kyocera from me.

Ben Stein, on the other hand,

(a) is a great pro-life advocate
(b) deplored the killing of Terry Schiavo
(c) is a valuable defender of Intelligent Design, goes fearlessly up against the likes of Richard Dawkins, and produces good movies like "Expelled!"

For these things I will always love Ben Stein. Yes, his economic theory may deviate from mine at times, but he is one still of the Good Guys.

Ben Stein was at his best chronicling the moral decay foisted on society by Hollywood and has written about that place in a highly entertaining way.

My favorite was his friend the movie producer who had three down on their luck actresses providing him daily sex and preparing his meals in return for survival assistance. This menage a quatre was starting to grate even on the Hollywooder’s conscience as he cried out to Ben, “Oh G-d, why am I such a crook!!?”

But it does look like Ben’s wealth guilt finally seems to have set in.

Stein then told Kyocera and Seiter & Miller that he was extremely concerned about the environment but unsure whether humans are responsible for global warming.

Kyocera is a solar manufacturer and part of the "green politically correct" movement. Stein is indeed a victim in this one.

This is a serious question. Do employers in America have the right to fire employees strictly over their political views?
