January 16th edition. When did you ever see a menacing Obama with all the pores and lines on his face visible on a Time cover? None that I know of.
Regardless of what you think of Mitt Romney (and he's not the most beloved guy on FR for sure), this was a blatantly cheap, low-class thing to do. Time has a lengthy history of doing this to Republican figures (think the November '10 cover of John Boehner)

The lib media will obviously continue their longstanding pattern of demonizing the Republican nominee. Only this time, if the nominee is indeed Romney, I won’t give a single, solitary damn. They can rip him to shreds for all I care.
Whittaker Chambers was a Time Magazine Editor and a Commie. He later renounced communism and testified against Alger Hiss.
The MSM has decided that he has the nomination sewn up, so it’s safe to start trashing him. I do believe they’ve jumped the gun.
Of course, Mitt knows he has you by the noose because if he gets the nomination, he knows you’d rather slit your own throat than vote for Obama.
And that is how the RNC has operated for years. “We know you’ll never vote for a Democrat if your life depended on it, so we can throw whatever RINO candidate we want at you and you’ll have to swallow it.”

BTW, this proves that the RNC’s tired old strategy of thinking they can attract Democrats by running a centrist candidate doesn’t work.
Romney (or really any Republican) could stand up and say “MY FIRST ACT AS PRESIDENT WILL BE TO INSTITUTE SINGLE PAYER HEALTH CARE BY EXECUTIVE ORDER” and of course the MSM will still run him into the ground and the left will still not support him so long as he has an R next to his name.
Because when it comes to choosing between a real Democrat and an imitation Democrat, people will choose the former ever time.

Now, this is what a Centrist looks like. You know he's one of the Good Guys -- even has a sort of halo.
The MSM has done this over and over to republicans. Like earlier with Bachman. Time won’t be around in 5 years , so doesnt matter.

RINO Romney is NOT a “Republican figure”.
The only people who read Time are illiterate.
Their average age is also likely 117. Look at any hometown obituaries to see Time subscriptions that don't renew.
They were hostile to Romney in 08. The best I can figure out is that they have some phobia of him being a Mormon. Because it certainly can’t be for his less-than-right-of-center politics.
Oh, and the guy who wrote this (David Von Drehle) is a known extreme leftist hack who’s written editorials in Time trashing Glenn Beck and the TP.
Do not forget Americian Rifleman. Those are what all the men are looking at when I enter the exam room. I knew they would like them. I have been thanked many times for getting the MEN something to look at while waiting for me. Sometimes I see alot of teenage boys reading them too.
