Elections leader wants probe of more than 900 dead voters

COLUMBIA -- State officials are calling for an investigation after records determined that more than 900 people listed as deceased also have recently voted, calling into question the integrity of the state's election system as South Carolina's first-in-the-South GOP presidential primary just 10 days away.

What's unclear from the analysis released Wednesday to a House Judiciary Committee panel from the state Department of Motor Vehicles is whether voter fraud was committed by people assuming the identities of the deceased or if poor record keeping has resulted in South Carolina residents being classified as deceased.

Kevin Shwedo, director of the Department of Motor Vehicles, did not have answers, saying that would be up to investigators. He based his testimony before lawmakers on state Election Commission records that included when people last voted and matched that with death records.

The panel took no action on his report.

"If you have voted after you are dead, there is a good, strong possibility that you did something illegal," he said to reporters after speaking to the panel. "At that point in time, it comes out of my hands and goes into legal hands. ... It's not my job to explain that."

My Grandmother passed away in 2003, and out of curiosity, I used a website to look up her voter registration status. Still active as of 2010. I talked with the elections office and they determined that she voted in a city election in 2005, but they assumed it was a clerical error, and not fraud. They said they were going to make sure she was removed from the voting register.

Jesse Jackson inadvertantly let it out of the bag how much fraud there was when he said that requiring voter ID would reduce democrat turnout by 11%.

In a Texas senatorial election, Lyndon Johnson became known as "Lucky Lyndon" after a recount was ordered ... just before the Texas warehouse holding all the ballots burned down.

A workable Voter ID process should be mandatory in America.

900 or 900,000, if one dead Republican votes (R) it will be headlines until the election.

“We shouldn’t be investingating the dead that voted — we should be investigating the living that voted for the dead.”

Agree and this should be a felony with a significant minimum sentence. I suspect voter fraud has altered election results and without it the Dems would not be in power today. This is so wrong and critical to our Nations survival that voter fraud should be a top priority.

In Florida, for the “dead” to vote, they have to also make a fake ID because you have to show it.

It doesn't even take dead voters for the DemonRats to commit fraud. Just register phantom voters from vacant lots and you have a few thousand more. Add to that the inactive list of Democrats, and you have every election in the bag.

I don't know about everyone else's state, but in Texas, the voter registration card renews automatically. This HAS to change. Make voters actively "opt in" to ever election year by requiring that they register to vote annually.

Wouldn’t that be worth some of the RNC’s money to fund a study to determine which way voter fraud leans? Common sense will give you the answer but I’d still like to see it verified.

It would be very interesting to collect this data but is impossible in practice. Even if a voter is proven to be a die-hard life-long Democrat, it's impossible to know how they vote. It's more revealing which party commits the fraud just by the screeching over the voter i.d. laws.

I’m sure Holder will be all over this. Protecting the rights of the dead to vote and to vote rat is high on the DOJ agenda.

Don't joke about this. Dems have repeatedly fought states decisions to purge their voter rolls of deceased voters, illegal aliens, and felons. What rationale they give is anyone's guess.

“So, in reality, Democrats DO believe in resurection and life after death.”

I think it would be more accurate to say that they believe in spirit communication and the ability to talk to the dead in the hereafter. After all, it isn’t the dead really voting — it is someone voting proxy for the dead. And the only way to do that honestly is through spirit communication (assuming that the Democrat faithfully
represent that dead individual’s wishes — which I sincerly doubt they would do).

Now I do believe in resurrection and the day when Christ will return in glory. Should that happen on an election day when I serving as an election judge, and the dead start entering my polling place and demanding the opportunity to vote, you can be sure that I would let them. Mind, if they were not on the list of registered voters for my precinct they would have to vote provisionally (I live in Texas), and the ballot review committee would have to rule whether to count the ballot as a valid vote, but I sure don’t plan on telling them they cannot vote.

true.

Pressitutes would only delve for that information and print it if it were suspected that it was a republican the dead voted for.

See, you can run the person’s name, charge, and criminal background in the paper, but telling us who they voted for is violating the sacrosanct ethos of journalism.

Romney and Paul are working on absentee ballots here in FL.

MMMM Now why is it they focus on absentee ballots in this state and not the others?
Is it because we have a closed primary and we have to show photo ID, I suspect so because using absentee ballots for dead people is a way around the law here.

Remember the guy who was from TX and was caught in NH voting under a dead persons name?

Paul and Romney are said to be focusing on absentee ballots in our state.
Now why do that and not the other states?

Is it because we have photo ID and a closed primary, plus how about the thousands of snow birds who will use their vacation address down here and vote by absentee and then vote back ion their own state .

I smell fraud all over this by those two and our Gov/AG needs to clear all the roles and investigate all these snow birds.

How about you lose your right to ever vote again and can never be within 500 ft of a polling place?

Hang 'em. Vote fraud is treasonous.
