OTTAWA — The Canadian government is abruptly arguing that the same-sex marriages of many foreigners who wed in Canada are not valid, a move that stunned the gay community and could affect thousands of couples.

No Martha dear, that happened back in 2005 when your people got the fiction of gay marriage legalized in Canada.
The current government in Canada is actually declining to make Canada fools on the international stage by limiting this foolishness to Canadian Nationals. They have every right to do so.
What, may I ask, is the need for a divorce lawyer in a sham marriage which was never valid to begin with? That, I think, is the real issue and you're just angry because you may not be able to collect your fee.
Canada’s trying to back out of this one, but you can’t unpack fudge any more than you can unring a bell. They have a namby pamby charter instead of a constitution, which has allowed for even more judicial mischief than in the States. But if they believed the charter ruled out “gay marriages” for foreigners to Canada, then they ought to have made that policy from the start.
Anyhow, no tears from me for egg on the face of the “international gay community.”
