Perry again flubs government agencies on chopping block

Rick Perry is still struggling to remember which three Cabinet-level government agencies he would like to eliminate if elected president.

Perry was asked about his proposal during a radio interview with Savannah, Ga., radio host Bill Edwards, according to ABC News.

“Three right off the bat, you know, Commerce, Interior and Energy, are three that you think,” Perry said.

But Perry had previously suggested that he would eliminate the Department of Education, not the Department of the Interior.  Edwards went on to ask Perry about the Department of Education later in the interview.

“They are blackmailing states with our own money, basically saying, 'Here is the national test, and here are the national standards you’re going to put into place,' ” Perry said. “One size fits all doesn’t work. Well, maybe it does in gym socks, but it sure doesn’t in how we educate our children.”

During a November Republican debate in Michigan, Perry famously could not remember all three agencies he would eliminate.

“I will tell you, it is three agencies of government when I get there that are gone. Commerce, Education and the — what’s the third one there? Let’s see,” Perry said.

As other candidates threw out suggestions in an attempt to aid the Texas governor, he continued to struggle, prompting moderator John Hardwood to ask if he genuinely couldn't remember the third of the agencies.

“I can’t. The third one, I can’t. Sorry. Oops," Perry said.

Perry spokesman Mark Miner later told ABC that all departments would be evaluated for elimination.

"Every agency is on the chopping block," Miner said. "It shouldn't be surprising that the governor is talking about another agency that needs to be looked at and cut."

Just Romney interests trying to get Perry to drop out instead of getting his own SuperPac going to fight Romneys’. They fear it could happen this weekend.

Dear lord he’s an idiot. Eight years of the idiot Bush was enough. We need an intellectual conservative leader we can be proud of.

Some memory issues are common as we age, but I wonder if something else is the problem with Perry. It’s a shame because his candidacy initially held such promise.

Now Perry is not the most articulate guy, but to hit him on this is a huge reach.

He said: “Three right off the bat, you know...”

Obviously he has more than three in mind.

Yawn...

I want a guy that will get in Obama's face. Really go after the guy. Perry can. Hell, he already has:) He hunted Obama down on the immigration issue and got right in his grill:

From what I have heard, yes, there is a memory problem and no it’s not related to aging. It’s a side effect of drinking too many adult beverages.

"but I wonder if something else is the problem with Perry"

The reason he keeps forgetting is because these are not his ideas. These are the ideas that have been shoveled into his brain by the same croney capitalists that kept him afloat in Texas. The same croney capitalists that tried to split Texas in two with that Spanish corridor.

We don't need another puppet.

I'm just surprised that the puppetmasters picked such a lousy one in the first place.

no dis-respect to the Perry supporters but Perry needs to drop out as he stands no chance and let those conservative votes go to another conservative.

Newt and Rick need to talk and one of them need to get out too and maybe do a deal where one will be the VP if the other is elected.

We cannot have ego’s and we do not have the time for ego’s to get in the way of this now.
We have to STOP SPLITTING THE CONSERVATIVE VOTE AND GET RID OF ROMNEY ONCE AND FOR ALL.

Romney wins then we all lose, as nothing will change.
Homosexual and carries on, kickbacks to donors with our money etc.
Then the establishment will be put on notice seeing as Romney has kicked conservatives in the face and not met any conservative groups

If the Governor of Texas cannot remember the name of multiple useless Federal Agencies, it only reinforces his position. They contribute so little that the very name cannot be remembered and they should be eliminated... CLOSED.

Scorched Earth in DC! It is TIME to DownSize DC!

Perry has all the intellectual depth of a Texas cow patty. He stormed into the race with a lot of undeserved hoopla---throwing his hat into the race the same day Bachmann won the Iowa Straw Poll---stopping her hard-won momentum. For a nanosecond he was top dog then voters found Perry had very weak debating skills; the coupe de grace was when he called Americans "heartless" b/c they did not agree with his in-state tuition policies for illegals.

Now Perry's between a rock and a hard place---- damned if he does---damned if he doesn't.

Perry did NOT campaign in NH AND FINISHED ALMOST DEAD LAST.

However, Perry DID campaign in Iowa---AND FINISHED ALMOST DEAD LAST.

----In Iowa, Perry spent the most money-$6 million,

----ran around in two campaign buses,

----held numerous campaign events,

---- glad-handed thousands of Iowans,

----ran non-stop ads touting his conservative credentials,

----trucked in 1000 Texans for groundwork,

----campaigned with California legislators and other high-level supporters

----AND FINISHED ALMOST DEAD LAST.

Sometimes memory has nothing to do with age or consumption of adult beverages.

I was 20 years old and leaving church with a girlfriend. As we left the service, I went to introduce her to my pastor. My mind went blank.

No, I did not marry that one. :)

I can sympathize with Gov. Perry's brain farts but president is too important of a position for such things. And what if he were to freeze while debating Obama. It would be 24hrs a day on cable news.

The less than intellectual, fictional Gov. Robert Ritchie was supposed to be based on Bush. I think it's pretty clear, now, he's actually Perry.

The only difference is a little hair dye.

You and I caught it...I think Perry is the best of all of them. His stature and mannerisms remind me of Reagan, too.
