RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) - Federal District Court Judge John Gibney ruled against Texas Governor Rick Perry and other Republican presidential candidates who sued in an effort to appear on the ballot for the Virginia Republican primary in March.
Judge Gibney announced the ruling Friday afternoon in Richmond, Virginia.[CLICK HERE: Read the judge's order] The suit was originally filed by Texas Governor Rick Perry.
Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum, and Jon Hunstman later joined the challenge.
According to court documents, the Republican candidates failed to meet the 10,000 signature petition requirements to get on the ballot.
Mitt Romney and Ron Paul met the requirements.
Monday, Judge Gibney ordered the distribution of absentee ballots for Virginia's Republican primary to be halted until the legal challenge could be settled.
Virginia voters should just stay home.
They don’t have a voice anyway, why go out and waste time voting for two losers.
“Virginia voters should just stay home.
They dont have a voice anyway, why go out and waste time voting for two losers.”
Oh, I will absolutely be staying home. My only choices are the liberal or the lunatic-—in other words, no choices at all.
Did he show you his cash in exchange for your services on FR?
Stinking Mythbot. Good riddance!
“equal protection is the feds butting in.”
“prohibiting a poll tax is the feds butting in.”
“prohibiting literacy tests for voting is the feds butting in.”
“18 years old voting age is the feds butting in.”
Then you must also believe that the Right to Bear Arms is the Feds butting in.
You see, the problem with Bain is they weren't exactly always doing that ~ LA Times article says Bain took advantage of every tax abatement available.
That sort of thing creates a status quite a bit different than a level playing field ~ we have a word for it.
May even be legal.
We know what that form of government was ~ back in 1775 we began killing people who believed that the minority back in the establishment should rule.
That practice could well be revived by this sort of behavior on the part of Romney and his paid judges.
I think the judge here is crosswise with the constitution. So is the Commonwealth of Virginia.
They made this change without clearing DOJ.
BTW, any of you folks out there who think this business of clearing electoral law changes with DOJ is just BS, it is ~ except where you have Fascist Pigs running a Southern state.
You saw Halley Barbour pardoning rafts of murderers this week. We got the Same crew here.
THESE PEOPLE make the noises Conservatives like but they can't be trusted. They are elemental criminals just waiting for a chance to screw the public, or hurt people.
Thats fine. Vote how you feel. Anything to stop the Mitt Machine.
hey.. If you think Mittens is conservative..
I got a bridge in New York for sale.. Cheap.
Oh, I will absolutely be staying home. My only choices are the liberal or the lunatic-in other words, no choices at all.
Just wondering... Anyone running against Obama in VA? Can you “cross over”?
There goes my vote...I’m not given the chance to vote for the candidate I think is the best one.
Note to Virginians....Bill Bolling is the Lt. Governor and Romney’s state chair. Mitt gave him the money for his support and Bolling wants to be governor in 2013. We need Ken Cuccinelli to run and retire Bolling. Never forget this, Virginia!
I’m really getting tired of hearing that “if you attack Romney you’re attacking capitalism” garbage. It seems like Sarah Palin is the only one who gets it, from what I saw of her the other night.
To say that an attack on Romney is an attack on capitalism is akin to calling criticism of Jeremiah Wright an attack on freedom of religion.
Bump dat.
Exactly! You notice how few articles mention this fact? TPTB rigged the VA elections rather well, didn't they?
There won’t be a Dem primary in VA since only one person (BHO) qualified to be on the ballot. Such cross-overs as there will be will be in one direction, but given the reduced field, it’s really not worth anyone’s time to cross over.
