Mitt Romney lambasted in attack ad for speaking French

Quelle horreur! Republican presidential front-runner Mitt Romney has been skewered in a new political attack ad - for speaking French.

The ad, released by rival Newt Gingrich, seeks to draw unflattering parallels between Mr Romney and another Massachusetts politician, John Kerry.

Entitled The French Connection, it features a clip of Mr Romney talking in French when he ran the Winter Olympics.

Newt is clever in knowing that now is one of the times he must strike (there will be others).

He knows the country hangs in the balance and he has the courage to go against the so-called establishment.

Newt also knows that Obama will utterly destroy Romney.

As Newt said a few weeks ago (I paraphrase)..."this game has just begun."

For those who don't understand what Newt is doing...keep in mind that his actions are laid over a template of history. I am currently reading "Troublesome Young Men" (a book recommended by Newt)...and our country is in great parallel with what happened in England before Chanberlain's demise, Churchill's rise, and WWII.

Understanding history--really understanding it--gives us great strength. Read it...understand it.

We too must take our place in history.

Looked big enought, 55 footer, anyway you could have had fun fishing.

My idea of the first 100 years in heaven. Fishing one's way across the Atlantic.

Plenty of fuel and single malt scotch and Irish whisky...enough fishing gear to catch bait and troll for swordfish and tuna and whatever else grabs the line.

Good company and plenty of good books...and time away from politics.

We should have bid on "Bull". Think about it...we could be sea-sick (hanging over the rail, heaving) and tired of fishing by now...but what great ocean bonding of buddies.

Pardon me for a moment...where's the rail?;-)

.

Simple me ... I thought the ad was "right on target" ...

The "french quote" thingee is deliberately placed at the end of the ad ... so you have to learn about:

1) Mitt didn't like Ronald Reagan ...

2) Mitt didn't like The revolutionary "Contract with America" ...

3) Mitt registered as a Democrat ...

4) Mitt voted AGAINST Republican George bush (43) ...

Boy, what a SWELL guy that Mitt Romney is ...

Really grasping at straws with this one. I think Newt’s starting to melt down.

Trouble is: when professorial people (and other like them) want to show they're regular folks, they tend to go for slumming. I'm sure that's why more than a few posters here saw the ad as "stupid" (condescending?)

Yeah I did, but I’m going thru withdrawal... give me another day or two....

BTW...I think it’s a fair question to ask Romney how many Catholics he converted...

‘You might have heard that the Congressional cafeteria subsequently renamed french fries as Freedom fries.’

Oh, we know. It was front page news here, and around the world, and it made America and Americans look like backward idiots.

Your King George made that same mistake and we kicked your asses out of here, and rightly so.

Now get to work with that starch.

Sorry, but you didnt rename a fast food and expect everyone to applaud, did you?.

Again, you seem to have a problem understanding what people say. I said it made America and Americans LOOK like backward, kneejerk idiots, I didnt say you were.

Had the freedom fries thing been done in humour, the world would have laughed. But given that it was serious, even those of us who support America thought it was idiotic and counterproductive.

BTW, as for 1776, I am related to Alexander Hamilton, and Scots formed the backbone of the revolutionary forces.
