These will be the wave of the future and not just for smartphones. It will take huge self-control in its use. People will walk around with their heads in the clouds and you can bet they will drive with them also. BTW, I'll get me a pair just as soon as I can afford to.

Wouldn't let me post the full title. Here is the rest of it; "Next-generation video screen glasses could lay messages or GPS over your field of vision"

It also generates subtitles. When watching a politician or car salesman speak, it will flash “He’s lying.”

Maybe, maybe not. There are a number of people who, for medical reasons, wouldn't be able to tolerate such technology.

The glasses might make an interesting "heads up display" for your GPS.

It makes me think of the old "terminator" movies, where from Arnold's point of view his vision had scrolling text superimposed.

How do you focus on anything that close?

And what if you have other visual oddities? I had a small mirror to clip to my bike helmet but I could never use it because I always focused on the rim of the mirror instead of the reflected image when I tried to use it. I might have the same problem with this.

You aren’t focusing on it that close. The glasses give the illusion of the picture(or words) floating in the air in front of you like 20 feet away.

Went out to eat with some neighbors and their four pre-teen and teenage kids. The kids weren’t even there — each was texting and looking crap up on their smartphones. Unlike two years ago, kids today require smartphones or they’ll be outcasts. Two years from now, they’ll be sitting there with these stupid things on their faces. Throughout history there have been individuals who said “screw it,” and went off to live by themselves. I’m getting close to that point.

I remember them talking about this since the early 1980’s at least. I’m not sure this is a good idea, people will be more distracted when they walk or, shudder, drive.
